Floppy ear, how to shave it? Hi everyone, Piper's left ear started drooping on the weekend. I've never shaved them (she's 7.5 months) before. Could this be the reason and if so, how do I shave them. I have a tiny shaver from Walmart but I'm not sure the right way to go about it. And, if that doesn't fix it, should I tape the ear? TIA. |
This happened to my Zeus at about the same age. The only thing I did was play with his ear every now and then to force it up. It eventually went back up on its own. |
Teething will make their ears droop sometimes. Start by trimming the hair around the edge of her ear. Hold her ear with one hand so you feel the edge of her ear...and trim close. And yes you can shave her ear 3/4 of the way down on the backside to reduce the weight also. |
Thanks! Thanks ladies! I'll try trimming it tonight. :) |
How did you make out with your pups ear? MIne did the same thing and I didn't have any luck with the elaboate taping proceedure I found online. So this is what I did: I took his ear and pinched together so it stood up straight and then wrapped a piece of duct tape around it. ( I know your thinking "duct tape???") but it is stickier than any other. Just make it stick to itself when you wrap it around. we left it on about 5 days and I took it off his ear stood up and has never flopped again. One other thing someone told me to give them a little bit of plain yougurt or skim milk each day for the calcium as it helps the cartilage get stronger. These are just suggestions of course but it worked for me. Good luck Cher |
