Leader of the pack I stubbed my toe last night stepping over Asia's expen. Broke the top of the nail off, I't bled and hurt like H***. I was on the other side of the expen and Asia kept crying for me. Once I got up I calmed her and then cleaned it up and put a bandage on it. When I can back she kept following me around licking the bandage every time I stopped. I told her to stop it because I did not want her to get the medicine in her mouth. I remember that in the pack, dogs will lick the wounds of the injured to help them and confort them. I guess that was what she was trying to do for me. |
Awww... that's so sweet. She was healing you with yorkie kisses! |
That's funny and I never thought about it...but Maximus kept licking where my bf had cut his finger..and it had bled....my bf swear that it helped his cut heal better!!! |
My bf is a Mold Maker and loves to race Motocross, so he's pretty banged up all the time. He kept complaining and asking me why Deegan would always lick his cuts. I never thought about it like that, but it makes sense that they want to heal us and make us feel better. I'm going to tell him tonight - thanks for the post! |
My husband comes home with a new ouchie almost everyday and Gus is always licking them. I never thought of it that way either. |
i have had dogs ALL my life and they have ALWAYS done this....... toby is even better because when i am sick he can get in bed with me and cuddle (lmao,,,, yeah you should have seen my golden retriever try that one ) they are really "in tune" to our ouchies and sickness (some people even use them to detect oncoming seizures  ), they are very good at figurign out if something is not right |
Wow - that's amazing! One more reason our babies are so great! |
