Hi, help needed!! Hi everyone, I am a new Yorkie Poo owner and new here also. We have had Maggie for over a week and are going thru the potty training process. She is 12 weeks old now and we are not seeing progress on the potty training end. We take her out almost every 2 1/2 hours and approx. 15 -30 minutes after eating. When she goes out, she just walks around and picks up sticks and plays. As soon as we bring her in, literally within a minute, she will pee or poop on the floor. Should I give up on the outside potty idea and just go to potty pads? Any suggestions? Thanks, it's great to have found this site!!! |

I saw on the dog wisperer show this ladies dog wouldn't go outside to potty, he said even if it take shours stay outside until she goes and then praise the heck out of her and continue doing so until she learns. Welcome to YT!!!! |
Welcome to YT just keep at it 12 weeks is YOUNG. your pup will get it as long as you stay consistent. Would love to see pictures:) |
12 weeks is pretty young. If she doesn't go outside, when you bring in her in watch her like a hawk...the minute she starts to get into position, make a loud noise (to distract her from going) and pick her up and take her out. You will have to do it several times but eventually she will get it. |
Thank you so much for your advice and encouragement. We have a blue tick hound and he was so easy to potty train. We did get him when he was 4 months, so maybe the age does make a difference. I'm trying to get a pic of her posted thru Photobucket!! We are still trying to get them used to each other, he's 5 years old and is trying to tolerate her:) |
