Puppy Preschool Well I went to the local behaviourist/trainer and signed Sadie up for Puppy Preschool! LOL!! He wont start until the first week of August because I have to wait until he's had all of his shots. The trainer actually comes to our house for 2 sessions and then the actual training begins for 6 weeks after that. She said that Yorkies usually take to training well and Ive already bought her her first harness that she will use for training! I cant wait! Does (or has) anyone here had real training for their Yorkie before? How was your puppy/dog during the training and do you continue it now if the training is over? What sorts of things can your dog do? |
Gracie went to pre-school, kindergarten and then puppy school 101. She learned lots of great things, but I think I learned more than she did. After doing all the training with Gracie, I started on day one with Holly. By the time she went to pre-school, she was already ready for puppy school 101. We continue to work on things at home: sit, stay, down, come, leave it, "off"... Most importantly the classes teach you how to communicate with your pup. You learn to make the right choice easy for them to figure out, that is key. |
I want to enroll Teddy and Dixie in puppy class. I think I need to wait until they are much bigger though. They don't need lots of training, I just want them to know, down, sit, stay and that kind of stuff. I am trying to teach Dixie to sit. She is taking to it well, at least if I am using the biljac liver treats. They love those!! |
