I'm sorry I wouldn't feed anything from Beneful it is one of the lowest ranked food. Starting off with wheat gluten, meat by-products which includes feathers, beaks and other things I won't mention. Salt should not be added and alot of dogs are allergic to soy. JMHO |
meat by products?????...i guess everything has to have something wrong with it????ugggggggg |

Everybody who's posted is absolutely correct. If you look in the health/diet forum, there are a TON of options. Also, dogfoodanalysis.com lists many of the wonderful foods! 4-6 star foods are best. Anything lower is really not good. The main thing to look at is the first few ingredients in the list. Innova, Canidae, Wellness, are all commonly used by YTers with good ratings  Just wanted to add one more thing, you won't be able to find quality foods at Petco or Petsmart, Wal-mart, etc...you'll need to find a pet boutique or distributor. Luckily, most of these companies have a "store locator" option online so you can find a store near you! |

Thanks, I do not intend to feed them any more of that!!!:) |
wheat gluten, by products that alone is not good and the salt |
I can tell you that the nutrition expert that spoke to us at the meet-up in KC said there should never be "meat by-products" of any kind. This could literally be ANY type of meat and is usually what is discarded by other processing. Wheat gluten should be steered clear of, especially since all the dog food recalls had issues with it. A pure meat should always be the first ingredient listed. Anything "modified" is not good and there are a ton of artificial ingredients in the list of ingredients. The expert also said that if you actually counted the number of vegetables really in the stew you would laugh that it was even listed as an ingredient as that meal probably does not contain enough carrot to make up a very small baby carrot. Many times the "meat" and "vegetables" are actually other processed ingredients made to look like real stuff. And last, but not least, most commercial dog foods such a Purina and Hills (only to name a few) include lots of added sugar buried in with other ingredients which is why it is so difficult to get an animal that has only been fed basic crap to switch to good stuff. |
When I saw the commercial for this stuff, I thought...DH would eat THAT! Too bad is isn't good for them. (Yorkies, not husbands) |
