Jealousy/Biting!! OMG Toby is (we think) jealous of Crunchy. Last night she went up to him, sniffed him, and he bit her!!! Then we took both dogs to bed last night and we put Toby on the bed with us and when Crunchy came up to...he bit her again, started growling and showing his teeth to her. What can I do to make it stop? We scolded him and try to keep Crunchy away from him. |
I have 2 yorkies, one of which we've only had 2 weeks. I've noticed that they both play really rough with each other. In the beginning, I do believe SOphie was jealous, but it passed quickly. Is there a big size or age difference in your pups? |
When I got my second yorkie we had the same issues,it didnt take a week and all was solved, my openion is that there is a break in period where alpha is solved, in my case it was the smaller second dog that came out alpha, they have been togeather for 8 months and they will still see who is boss, they have never hurt each other, just teeth and noise of groweling and snapping, yet never a tooth connected,it just takes a little time...good luch |
I think that's more of a dominance thing than a jealousy thing. I used to work at a doggy daycare and that happens all the time amongst dogs. Cailee (my big dog) does it to Rika sometimes and Rika does it *a lot* when new big dogs are around. It's normal. They're just trying to figure out who should be boss. It's still fine for you to break it up because that teaches them that YOU are boss and not them. Good luck! |
Thanks! Yeah there is a huge size difference between Toby and Crunchy...Toby is 8lbs and Crunchy is an ofe at 25lbs. I hope it passes soon! Thanks for the advice! :D |
