Puppy Question..... OKay as you may have seen/read I am getting a new baby girl. Now I have taken this lil girl before she was born.. the breeder, and friend, promised me hte first girl she had... and well Athena was born July 8th..... and she is small from what I'm told she is fighter and she is doing very very well eating and so forth... but I have a question for those of you that would know. she is weighting in at 1.75 oz... will she be a tiny unhealthy puppy????? Your thoughts on this are very important. I don't mind small yorkie, but worry about it. |
1.75 oz. is a very tiny girl. A low birth weight doesn't determine the eventual health (or size) of the baby. It's way too early to say how healthy or big she will be. I don't think you would be obligated to take on a pup that wasn't healthy though. |
Oh no not at all. I simply wanted the first female she had and she said DEAL. I'm not at all obligated, I just was worried, I've already fallen in love with her from her lil photos. I've learned so much since getting Leo last month on wt and such. He's a healthy lil bug at 13 wks he is 3 lbs. I was just wondering exactly what you answered if being born the "runt" meant she would stay the runt. Thank you |
I have always been told to wait until 8wks and what they weigh at that time frame X it by 3. Then again I have heard 12wks weight and times it by 2 and get a ballpark figure..I am may be wrong.. I am sure someone will know what the best answer would be:) yorkiepassion.com has a growth chart |
Thank you, the breeder did her wieght today and she was 2 oz, seems to be a fighter and healthy thus far.. I hope she becomes a healthy lil girl, I'm already excited about her! |
