ate pencil!! Has anybody ever had their toy yorkie eat part of a pencil? This JUSt happened. |
I have had puppy chew on walls, floor boards, pencils, etc. As long as they don't actually swallow the lead it should be fine. It is almost impossible to keep everything away from them, I know I try. :) |
I may be over reacting, but how much did your baby eat? I would go to the vet if it's even a small chunk because it could cause an intestinal obstruction. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong here! At least call the vet and ask right now. I'm sorry! |

any updates? |
Just call the vet. Everything should be fine.:) Graphite is not really toxic (kids chew on/eat pencils). The obstruction issue would be worrisome but Yorkies on YT have eaten colored pencil before and been fine. The vet will know best. |
My Alyssa is 5 now and she has always found and chewed on pencils. She eats part of the wood as she would if she were chewing on wood furniture. I always take them away but sometimes she has chewed before I catch it. We have had no problems so far but I too worry about the chunks of wood inside her. |
pencils, pens, a razor (the plastic end), barrettes, bows, sticks, styrofoam packaging, ball bearings...gosh what hasn't Ginger eaten??? Of course I worry. But I have stopped the frantic trips to the vet. I just watch to make sure her bowels are moving and she's not throwing up. We get lots of interesting "piles" around here.:) Sounds like your baby is okay. Yaaay! But, boy, they sure can make us worry!!! |
