I need reassurance..I feel sick with worry! Pixie is going in to be spayed on friday..everytime i think about it my stomach turns over with nerves..:( She's so little...I keep questioning if i'm doing the right thing or not..she's also having baby teeth pulled, microchip and her nails trimmed. I'm going to ask if they can ring me as soon as she wakes as i will be pacing the floor with worry..I have friday off work as well as the weekend and also monday too..so i have a few days to keep an eye on her. urrrgggghhh! I wish it was friday night already! |
It is normal to worry. Zoeybear and Baby Chloe send hugs!:love-hug3 |
Pixie will be fine, I worried about Tarra and her surgery, but most of all her being put to sleep, she was only 2.12 pounds but did great. We will be praying for you both.:) |

she will have a 'potent 24 hour' painkiller before surgery...do you think it would be wise to ask for extra painkillers to give her when this wears off? i'm so afraid of how she's going to look when i pick her up..its gonna break my heart.:( |
They will probably give you some to take home, after Lexie had a c-section they pulled one of her top canines that didn't come out, and I will tell you she didn't look great, put its because they drool really bad when they are in recovery, but she was fine after see woke up that night. So don't worry okay:) |
and another thing i just thought of..Pixie has a long coat..should i ask if they can shave off the minimum amount of hair? sounds a bit silly to ask doesn't it! It's not really that important of course...the main thing is that she gets through this in one piece and recovers quickly. |

I'm worried about how she will be afterwards..what if she won't eat & drink etc she's a strong & feisty little thing..so i'm hoping she will recover quickly... |
It's so worrisome when they go in to be spayed. I was pretty nervous, too. They look a little rough when they are through, but it is because of the anesthesia also. Mine didn't whimper, they just laid down and slept...which is the best thing for them. Neither of mine were given pain meds for home and they did very well. Juju Bean weighed about 3 1/2 lbs and also had 11 teeth removed! Good luck and let us know how she did! |
She's going to do great but I so understand your worry. I know neutering isn't as big a deal as a spay but Sugar wasn't 3 pounds when he was neutered and he had a dental done at the same time (takes longer than extractions) and did he great. I still panic whenever he goes under anesthesia though so I know how you feel. Just log on YT and start a thread about it and we will talk you through it! YT got me through his last dental.:) |

I just asked my Vet that very question. He said he would only have to shave a tiny bit on the lower part of her belly where no one would see it and, if necessary, a tiny spot on her leg for the IV. Good luck. I'm sure everything will work out just fine and your baby will be back in your arms soon. :) |
I am so very sorry you are having so much anxiety. I would agree with the other posters that little Pixie will come through the spaying with a lot less wear and tear than you will. |

My Chloe was spayed a week ago today and I know exactly how you feel and it is normal. I cried myself home after I dropped her off. My doctor did call me as soon as she was out. I too was scared of the anestisia she is only 3 lbs. and having some dental work too. But the doctor told me she was awake and alert. She did stay overnight (my vet is a 24 hour facility) so we went to visit at 6PM and again at 11PM (I wanted to make sure they were watching her). She came home the next day with an antinflammatory (Metacam) she had that for 5 days. She did not want to eat much and she slept most of the day. I held her all the time:p She did whimper at times but it was not bad. By the 3rd day she was back to herself appetite and all. I did put a one piece PJ on her to keep her from licking. She never even noticed her scar. Your baby will be fine and you will be fine when its all over. Keep us updated;) |
I feel for you, I haven't been brave enough to make the appointments for my girls. I don't want to put them through the pain and it's not like on people...they remove everything :(. I had a tubal, it was extremely painful so part of me just can\'t face doing that to them. Both girls also need some teeth removed. I have two certificates for discounts just waiting at my vets but just can\'t do it.... but I should...I feel like a bad doggy mom. All our thoughts will be with her. |
