behavior difference? I think i want to breed my yorkie but im not sure yet so i had a few questions first. do they change their behaviors or will they become agressive? if you can help please do. thank you |
You might try posting this in the Breeders section of YT. :) A lot of breeders check in there and could probably give you the best advice from experiences they have had :) HTH :) |
i did already i was just trying to see if i could get anymore responses in here |
Yes, you will see personality changes after breeding, females get the mother instinct, which can be seen as aggressive, males get that macho thing. Here's a good link if you are thinking about breeding. Breeding Your Dog. Personally I wouldn't do it unless I thought my talents could truly improve the breed, it just doesn't seem worth it to produce more sickly off-standard yorkies. |

There are other things to consider - health wise - many dogs have difficult pregnancies and some even die. I wouldn't breed unless I had lots of knowledge and help available not to mention money! Discuss it with other breeders - and with your vet. Also is your dog a show dog? Has it won Best of Breed? These are all things to consider too - keeping the breed healthy and well. There are also tests that vets run to make sure there are not genetic problems. Do you know the complete history of your dogs family? Lot's of questions and lot's of things to consider. GOOD LUCK no matter what you choose to do. Karen and DAISY and THE GANG |

Read my post again I said, "Personally, I wouldn't . . ." I didn't suggest "she" would produce sickly and off-standard yorkies. Furthermore, lots of breeders don't even think about "improving the breed," so while it may be obvious to you, it isn't to others. I have no idea if this has crossed the OP mind or not. It does seem like some posters are looking for anything that might be mildly taken as rude, and point that out, rather then helping answer the OP question. If I have offended the OP, I am sorry, I have learned so much at my time at Yorkietalk, and have found that Yorkies are much more difficult to breed than I originally thought, and just wanted to share this information with you. |
