I think if you are too stern with her as a baby she will only realise that you don't like what she is doing. It works better if you take it out regularly and praise it a lot when it does good. Give treats. As soon as she is done outside tell her "good girl" in an excited voice of praise. Give the treat right away so she will associate the praise and treat as a reward for going outside.
If you are too stern with her , this will just cause her to go somewhere when you aren't looking or somewhere you can't see because she knows it upsets you but hasn't gotten the gist of it yet. Then you will be finding little surprises everywhere. :eek:
