Lillie, 2yrs old 4lb 8 oz, got into the trash tonight...she got ahold of an ear of corn that didn't have much corn on it...She ate ALL the rest of the corn off the cob and a tiny bit of the cob...I am worried that she may get sick..Anyone else ever go through anything like this? What happened? I believe she will end up with VERY loose stools..I just don't want her to get really sick. I'm a little worried here!

Mine have both eaten corn and cob. Alot of the corn just passed thru. The cob didn't(at least not in the whole form). I think their stools were a little soft, but that was it. But, mine have cast iron guts. I hope Lillie is able to digest it without too much discomfort. It should show up soon, I would think. I'll leep Lillie in my prayers.

Thank you for responding Roxy! Hubby had taken the trash and put it where we THOUGHT the dogs couldn't get at it. Much to my surprise one of them did! And Lillie is the smaller of my 2 yorkies!! She is such a little devil! I just don't want her to get sick. She isn't very big and I am a little worried about her. Thank you for the prayers.

I agree I think it depends on the yorkie. I had one that couldn't eat anything besides dog food or he'd get sick. Alphy he is in the middle. Some things he tolerates, others upset his tummy. I hope all turns out well.

mine eat the whole corn on the cobb ... i saw pics of linda44 and i inquired and then i gave mine some and even took their pics

I didn't think corn was good for dogs? Actually, Lillie isn't the one that took the cob out of the trash...it was Sadie! She did throw up this morning and it was all the corn she ate. I didn't give it to her....she somehow got it out of the trash.

idk if i trust corn for the dogs cause i mean its hard to digest for humans so what makes our furbabies who are tiny any different

Corn won't poison them; its just some dogs are allergic to it and shouldn't be one of the first ingredients in dog food. It's more of a starch than a vegetable. The problem you now have is that your dogs are even going to be more aggressive in getting to the trashcan. Once they have retrieved something tasty. which is highly rewarding, they are going to repeat this activity, and the next time it could have disastrous results. Certain human foods for example raisins, grapes, chocolate, onions, and many others are deadly. So either put the can in a cabinet, or find one with a lid that can't be toppled over.

My disastrous result from owning garbage scouts....trash all over the kitchen whenever someone wasn't looking. :mad:

My trash can is now...a 3ft tall one.
