When is this dog going to calm down? Baxter was fixed a month ago at 5 months old. He is still trying to drive my outside dog nuts. Lucky is at least 45 lbs. Baxter is maybe 6. Baxter barks at him like crazy and tries to chew on him. Fortunately, Lucky doesn't try to eat him but i'm afraid one day he will. Baxter is always on a leash around him so that I can pull him off of Lucky. I was hoping that the neutering would help this situation. |
Mine calmed down alot at 1 1/2 yrs. The chewing stopped at about 1 though |
I'm afraid you have a ways to go yet. Around 1-1 1/2 he should calm down. I prayed for it and now that's it's here I miss the craziness of it all. LOL |
Sandy has always been a little lady. So there wasn't that kind of a problem with her. But TJ... is a little stinker, too. He is so active and just wants everyone to play with him. They have more energy that they know what to do with, at this age. He is in today being neutered. But I don't think it will slow him down much, either. At least not for long. I think the only thing that will do that is time. He will eventually stop being a puppy... but he will always be my little angel (with horns)LOL. :) Do you take him for long walks? They need an outlet to release all that extra energy. Your baby will probably do the same. Hang in there.. it will get better.;) |
He is alone during the day but we walk in the morning and evening (lots in the evening) and we play fetch forever. I have a ball moving constantly when I get home. I have never seen a dog play fetch like Baxter. He thinks he's a retriever. |
The walking is really good. Its important to run down there agression and then train him that chewing on your Lucky isn't okay. Then redirect his chewing on something else. Try a bully stick or something. But maybe right there by Lucky and they both get something to calm down and do togeather. That should be after walking. But around a year they do calm down. So there is hope. Right now try to reward his good behavior with Lucky. |
Baxter sounds awesome:D my Suzi is full of energy too, and into everything .She is a puppy, and I love her antics. I have birds, and sometimes she jsut barks and barks at them... My birds are real devils though, and will nip at her... I have to watch them more, and they ARE louder then Suzi! :aimeeyork I am glad your big dog tolerates your little Yorkie, but, I would not take a chance of ever leaving them alone. :aimeeyork Your little guy feels like a big dog, and is not afraide to act tough and daring. They have a heart of a lion. :aimeeyork |
