Need some advise!
 

Hi all,

I'm looking to adopt another yorkie as a playmate for my yorkie. I found two yorkies and not sure what to do. The first yorkie, I visited yesterday was hyper. My yorkie is more mellow, sweet and spoiled! They got to playing and they get along, it's just that when the other yorkie starts to chase my boy he gets scared and hides behind me??? Okay, the female is 9 pounds and 10 months. My yorkie is almost 2 and 7 pounds. Now, is it because she is a bit bigger that he gets scared? I don't think she is that aggressive. She is younger so she has lots of energy but is it okay to combine the two? Will my boy be miserable? The next yorkie is 3lbs. mellow and just had a hysterectomy. I ask the owner what happened and she said, "tootsies uterus had rupture and the doctor doesn't know why?" So she is much lighter than the first yorkie but now I'm a bit skeptical about her health. I think weight wise is good because my dog is gentle and will not hurt her. The owner says medical records are with the doc, duh?!?! and she is in good health. Both dogs are $300.00 what do I do? My dog needs a playmate. Please let me know what you guys think. Anything will help! Thanks, -g

I would want to talk to the vet on the second one before making a decision. I have a very laid back Cali and Pixie was more hyper and Roxie too when I brought them home but they all get along. I also have an older grouchy 10 lb pom and they all worked it out and get along fine. With yours being mellow I would think you could bring either personality home and it would work out. It may just take longer with the hyper one. If the health checks out ok with the little one maybe she would be your best fit. She may be more mellow becasue she just had surgery. Thanks for the feed back. I'm definitely going to call the vet and ask about her medical history. I would think the smaller one would be good because my "Brownie" is so chill. I think the hyper one is so adorable she is so friendly and sweet. We'll see and I'll keep in touch. Thanks again. -g

You are right. Last thing I need is a unhealthy baby. It would devestate me. The Tootsie (second girl) is 1 years old. I may sound mean but I kind of want one that is hyper because tWo chill dogs sound boring. I'm a bit hesitant because Tinker Bell (the hyper one) might hurt my Brownie who already has bad knees. :aimeeyork That is a difficult choice. They both sound adorable and would work out fine . I would definately check with the vet on the female, and make sure neither of them have serious health problems.

How old is the first one? When I was looking for someone for Alphy I looked at one that was really hyper, Alphy hated him and I ended up turning him away. :( Then I got Murphy as a puppy, he's now 6 months and full of piss and vinegar but I chalk that up to puppiness. Alphy is 3 and totally layed back and mellow. Big ol couch potato. I'm hoping Murphy will mellow some as he gets older and learns from Alphy. There are days he drives Alphy nuts but he just goes somewhere that Murph can't get to him. They currently the same size and I think that was important for me.

Good luck, guess what I was trying to say was the right one will come along and when he/she does, you will know.
