Doggy Litter Box?? When we were in Pet Smart yesterday a man was talking to us about the Yorkie his wife had just gotten and he said she bought their little guy a doggy litter box with a pellet type litter to put in it. He said their puppy goes poo in it every time. Onni always wee wees on her potty pad but likes to poo elsewhere and it usually does not involve a potty pad  ! My question is has anyone else used these and had success? |

I have two litterboxes and two pad holders w/ wee pads.... I have 5 Yorks and they all have different potty preferences. ;) The litterboxes are great... I couldn't find any "doggie specific" litter when I first got them, so I use a baby kitten litter "formula".... which works perfectly for us. Admittedly, I think I'd rather find a pellet type litter like you mentioned, since the "grainy" / "sandy" type litter can sometimes be a bit messy.... but, I have high side boxes, so it's not been too terribly troublesome.... still though, I think a pellet litter may be easier to keep up with. Other than that, I prefer the litterboxes to the wee pads.... none of the leaking on to the floor - - missed it - - - or constant washing - like with the disposable and washable pads.... just a daily scoop out - a weekly washing of the box - weekly litter change.... and that's that! |

Thank You!! I will go back and get one then. My son has the pellets in his hamster cage and there is no odor, so pellets I think would work better. If I tried regular litter, I would be sweeping it up for years after all the dogs played in it :D |

My dad had a miniature schnauzer to use a litter box, and it worked out great. (He didn't like to go out in the cold and would just hold it, so he started using the box as a puppy.) |

I use litter boxes with either paper/kitchen towels in or puppy pads in and also use puppy pads with their holders. |
