Who? I must've missed it... You're getting another dog? We had our ddb pup shipped from Oklahoma and he was fine. However, he was 3 months old and weighed 15lbs when he was sent to us. If you're getting a yorkie shipped, I'd bring nutrical; some water (Dozer was super THIRSTY when we picked him up); some wipes (just in case he went potty in the crate); a bag of food maybe... You'll have to show your ID at the pickup counter. We picked Dozer up at our luggage pickup area of the airport (they unloaded the plane; and he was the last to come off). It was about 10-15 min's after the people got off the plane. He was super friendly, came out of his crate wagging his whole body. Didn't know who we were, but loved us all the same. Wasn't tramautized and has been a wonderful dog since. Although that must have something to do with how he was brought up the first 3 months of his life... How exciting! A 3rd dog.... |
I can help because I bought my mother-in-law a Chocolate Lab and had her shipped. You will need to bring some sort I.D. - Drivers license, social security card, etc. I would bring a harness and lead so that you can walk him when you get outside of the airport (in case he has to pee/poop). You should also bring a bottle of water and a little bowl for it and some Nutrical (in case he's dehydrated). I would also bring something to put on your car (like a blanket) in case he pees or poops on the seat. If they fed the dog before the flight, then he may be messy (from pee and ppop) when you pick him up. By the way, is this dog a girl or boy? Did you pick out a name yet? I'm so excited for you!! :D |
When I picked up Coco at the airport, it was also around the baggage section. There was an office at our airport that was specifically for the transport of animals. I had take a small blanket, honey water/nutrical, a little bit of food, wipes and LOTS OF LOVE. I took the blanket, not because it was cold, but more because when they shake, because they are scared or nervous, if you bundle them like a child, and hold them close to your heart, so they can hear it beat, the shaking stops. Well it did for Coco. And also take puppy pad with you so when you take him out, he can go on it. Incase he's been holding himself the whole time in his crate. I'm so jealous :( but happy for you :) |
I also must have missed the post- you're getting a new baby?! That's wonderful! I didn't have Olivia shipped, but I just wanted to say congratulations and I'm so happy for you!! |
thanks guys im writing everything down !! here the thread i posted about my puppy :D http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...888#post171888 |
Which way is your pup being shipped? In the animal cargo area or above with the passengers? I had Rio shipped with the stewardess' and I took a harness and leash so he could go potty at the airport. It is a ways from my house. I am sure you probably aren't shipping a tiny but if you are I would take some nutrical to be safe if the puppy has been in transit long.Or regular corn syrup. Other than that just your ID like everyone else said. How exciting for you!!:) |

Mia came Continental. Her breeder said to bring a baby medicine syringe and red gatorade and to give a syringe of gatorade immediately on pick up, then some nutrical and more gatorade. Worked well. She was thirsty, but too scared/excited to really drink and the gatorade helped hydrate and tasted good. Good Luck! Can't wait to hear the stories! |
