I love the 4th of July, but I hate firecrackers I like everything else about the 4th, but hate how firecrackers upset Gizmo. :( I'm sure I'm not alone here. Anyone have any tips to share? We just try to act like nothing is wrong and go about things as usual. We don't baby him or anything. We do play as usual, etc... but nothing different from usual It helps some, but I wish I could do more. |
Sadly my boyfriend and I have to work tonight, so I recommended he put them in the x pen, then he also left the TV on.(They love the disney channel…Hehe.) He made sure to keep them toward the middle of the house. It also helps that our city does not allow any fireworks. |
Fireworks are over out here in PA. GiGi was out with me. I guess cause I got two loud children, she didnt mind at all!!! She had her little 4th dress on from GoFetch!! Everyone was loving her!!! |
Gizmo's first 4th was easy. He was too young to know that anything was going on. This year he thinks he knows it all. He alerts at every new noise. My little protector.:p I think the TV is a good idea tonight since no one will be home. |
When Bella was a baby I sang to her during fireworks and storms. We played and she didnt notice. This year she does the head tilt. I also turned up the tv so she wouldnt run to the door everytime to check out the noise. I prayed for rain..but it blew right past us!! So now the house is quiet. She has a full belly and is in her bed. There are still fireworks next door. uugghh I hate them!!:( I got up at 445 to go to wk this morning and that makes for a long long day. But dont worry! I plan on cutting my grass and starting up my gas weed eater about 630 am when these rednecks will be trying to sleep. Devious i know..lol ;) |

:aimeeyork We have about 45 min until dark . Fireworks are legal out here where I live. There are firework stands at every corner. It will be Suzi's first 4th of July. SHe has to stay inside! There is way too much smoke and noise tonight for her. I hope she does not get too frightened. I'll be taking my son outside and lighting a few for him. Hoping Suzi will be safe, and not freaked out. :aimeeyork |
I tried to attach a picture but it was too big. I will try to resize it and hopefully attach it tomorrow!! |

Well...Winston and I have survived another 4th of July. He was not a happy camper, he becomes frightened and clingy, nervous and shaky...walks around with his tail(stub) down. Hopefully, he will now settle down, so we can go to bed...it seems quiet here now...I hope! |

When we were in the house - I did the same thing with my girls - made it seem like a fun thing to hear endless booms and gunshot type noises and it really helped them overcome the fear. Last night since I'm in the city limits now - I only heard one short burst - (it's illegal) and that was it. Poor Giz...Judy - how did it go last night ? If your neighbors are like mine were - they've probably been setting them off all week - here in Texas they celebrate with fireworks if someone farts  EVERY single holiday - This was my 1st 4th not hearing them and I sure didn't miss it one bit....I feel for you girl |
Well, hubby and I took all four of our furbabies with us to see some fireworks. I debated whether or not to do it, but they did not seem phased at all with the smaller ones going off in the neighborhood so I decided to take them. I figured if they got too upset, we could just leave. We stayed in the car to watch them and all four furbabies were fine through the 15 minute show. Halle & Toby just sat in the back seat and Lexie and Lucky were up front with us. Lucky was more interested/freaked out at the palm tree shaped air freshener we had hanging from our rear view mirror blowing in the wind. Silly guy:p Hope Gizmo wasn't to terribly stressed last night.........give him a hug from me. |
