Blower Dryer Hello. I just got finished giving Buster a bath and it was horrible! I even told him for 30 mins prior that he was about to get a bath. He did ok while I was washing him but when I pulled the blow dryer out and turned it on, he jumped out of my arms and ran in the corner. He was shaking so much I felt so bad!!:( Does anyone one have any suggestions on what I should do next time? I don't know if I will be able to take him through that everytime I bathe him. |

Buster has been to the groomer and the strange thing is, she said he does great with the blow dryer. I had the blower dryer on low and cool, and inches away from him. I don't know if it is the noise or what. Thanks, I hope it does get better. |
Bailey has a puppy cut - so I don't blow her dry. But I do show her the blow dryer every morning as I get ready for work because I want her to be familiar with the dryer if I decide to use it on her in the future. I suggest gradually introducing the blow dryer to Buster. Maybe leave it on the floor for a few days so Buster can inspect it. Then get on the floor and turn it on for a few secs and leave it again. Good luck! |
You can actually purchase a silent blow dryer. They arn't exactly silent but they are very quite. You can get them at target or walmart. |
I have taken Scooter to the groomer countless times now and he always does great. The whole blow dryer issue at home that you are experiencing, Scooter also has problems with that. My blowdryer has multiple settings so the temperature isn't the issue, I think the sound gets to him. Quick solution, use hot towels. I put a couple dry bath towels in my dryer just before I take him to the bath tub for his scrub down. Once we finish the bath, I wrap him in a room temperature towel to get a little water off while I carry him to my dryer. I grab a warm towel out of the dryer and promptly swap it with the one from the bathroom. He is so much calmer because there are no crazy sounds/loud noises. With the warm towel, he will let me cradle him and give him a rub down. I think the warmth is soothing. If the towel gets to be room temperature and you think your baby needs another one, go grab another hot one from the dryer. The only downside is the amount of laundry created. If you don't mind it, your baby may be much happier. Try it, see what you think. |
How 'bout giving him treats when you have the blow dryer on? He will associate treats with blow dryer. I am lucky. Sam loves the dryer! When I am doing my hair he climbs up in my lap and wants me to dry him every morning!!! |
Boy you guys have some good ideas here about the drying!!!!:) Thanks! |
