Help! My baby is scared of a leash. My Sydney is leash ignornant. She came to me from a backyard breeder so she never was taken on walks with a leash. I am trying to get her to take walks with me but it seems to scare her. I got a step in harness from Cindy because it looked like it would help, keeping the leash on her back and not putting pressure on her neck. She still just looks at me like...What am i suppossed to be doing? and she just sits down. I usually end up carrying her on our walks. Can anyone give me some tips on how to get her used to walking with a leash? |
no one have any tips?? |
I had one like this once. Put the harness and leash on and just let her drag it around the house, she'll get used to it and soon learn to forget the leash and then love to go on walks. Make sure if you have the leash on her that you are watching her, so that she doesn't get caught on anything |
You might want to help her understand by having someone stand in front of you and hold a treat out to her. When she walks forward for the treat, walk forward with her and praise her, then give her the treat. Baby steps...she'll get the idea. |

thanks....will try these out! |
Awww poor baby. I feel so bad for him! I agree with the above posts.. he'll get used to it. Treats work for everything. And im sure once he sees how much fun it is outside he'll associate the leash with going out. |
