Dottie.............help needed I was wondering if anyone can advise me , my son-in-law is USAF stationed in th UK- one of his co-workers wanted him to send a dog to the pound for her as the dog was being kept 18 hours a day in a cat transporting box (very small) as he arrived with the dog (which by the way he was told was a fox terrier) en route top the dog pound, and I saw this poor wee scrap, I knew I couldnt let her go such an uncertain future, so she is with me full time forever, for a dog that has suffered so much (3 owners, she is only 2 one of whom fed her alcohol!! ) this dear little dog has no vices, she is not snappy, she curls up with my 2 Labrador girls, and Dottie is here to stay forever I adore her and so do the whole family she comes to work with me, and goes wherever I go, I have 3 questions, can you tell by pic if she has Yorkie in there somewhere, I think she does, and do to crating in cat box she has pee burnt legs, which I am treating with emollient, I am giving her evening primrose and cod liver oil supplement hoping to get her hair growing on her poor old back legs, any ideas to help her in this area. 2. feeding 2 x per day or 3, she will not eat dried kibbles only canned food and cooked chicken her teeth are in good condition, any ideas !!! 3. I'm hoping my pic of Dottie will work and you can see her coat she is brushed everyday, how often should I bathe her and should she be clipped out ( she has a beauty parlour appointment on monday) but I would appreciate input on this questions. Lots of Love Annie and Dottie |
??? How on earth??? Ok guys whats the secret how do you post a pic on here ..........grrrrrrrrrrrrr |
Haven't seen the pictures, and don't know anything about dogs, but bless your heart for giving this girl a loving forever home, she is very lucky to have finally find you. Best of luck to you both!:p |
She is so lucky you took her in. If a dog has a bad diet they will have thin fur. Give it awhile with a good diet and see if it helps. Omega 3 oil in the food helps too. |
yes, I had heard omega 3 was a good idea, just wih I could get pic of her on here to show you guys, I am sure she has Yorkie in her, and perhaps west highland white terrier or jack russel or all 3, tell me how to get Dotties pic on here, ( and Boy oh boy Jeri looks like you have a houseful, judging by your avatar)+:) |

No problem...good luck. On the other questions.... Do you know what she weighs? Usually food portions are determined by the dog's weight. A yorkie between 5 -10 pounds is generally given 1/3 to 1/2 cup of food daily. That's a reference for kibble. Canned is fine...just make sure it's good quality food. Check the label for serving. Some here do home cook for their dogs. You may want to search for threads on that for information. Bathing - I usually bath mine weekly unless there is a need to wash them again. Cutting their hair is really a personal preference....if you have the time and don't mind the maintenance required for a longer coat...it's really up to you. My get summer cuts simply because it is very hot here in the summer. Enjoy her! Sounds like she finally found....the right home. :) |
