Just bumping this up.....we all want to keep up with this one! |
A step in the right direction! Sorry I couldnt post this yesterday. Life is real busy for me right now. Pokey and I were on our walk yesterday and I spoke to a group of residents att the complex dog park. they informed me there is a prominent attorney who lives in our complex and is working on this very vigorously!! Seems she is trying to set a date in two weeks for a community meeting with the new owners. In 2 weeks, those of us that are moving and not giving up our animals must turn in our 30 dasy notices that we are moving. So the attorney is trying to organize a meeting and count the number of residents willing to move. She is hoping that if a large enough number of us show up with our notices, they will realize all the money and long term residents they will be losing. So she is going to fight and ask them to let us keep this a dog friendly place. She is also investigating the contractg and grandfathering laws as well!! so the fact that someone professional and as emotionally invoved as the rest of us is working diligently on this is very easing! Thanks again for the continued support and encouragement. One thing is for sure....I am going down fighting til Im all fought out....and even if I lose and have to move again, I still win because I decided this would no longer be my dreamhome without Pokey. I couldnt be happy hereknowing this place made me lose her. So I will stay with my baby no matter what it costs me. Thanks and I will update as I learn more. Keep all your fingers crossed that the new owners are willing to listen in 2 weeks!! Thanks! I luv you guys!!! :) |
If you have 150 people on your side, just don't rehome your pets. Are they going to throw out 150 people? I doubt it. I went through this last year, having to rehome 3 dogs and 2 cats. It was heart breaking, I hope that you do not have to go there! If all of you work together on this you should be able to win. Best of luck to you and Pokey. (My FIRST dog when I was 3 was named Pokey!) |
Pokey is a lucky little guy, having a Mama who is willing to fight for him like this. FYI, I did go through an "americans with disabilities act (ADA)" training through work. You don't need any certification, doctor's note, etc to say your dog is an assistance dog. All you have to do is say it. If they ask what your disability is, you are under no requirement to answer. Just say that according to the ADA, you are allowed to keep your dog, no questions asked. |
Great News! An attorney is fighting for your rights! I will continue to pray that you guys can keep your dogs right there with you. It is the only right thing to do! Please keep us informed! Good vibes goin your way! Pat |
With the economy the way it is, I dont see how the new owners can afford to have a mass exodus. Hope it works out for you! |
I cant believe this could have! To make a decision like this! Good luck.. Our thought are with you!!! Dont give up!!! |
Good luck in yiur fight. I hope you win!! |
Great News!!! I just received the BEST news ever!! Next week was our community meeting to fight the new owners, but we were just notified today that the new owners have reconsidered. After much convincing that our community is most popular for its pet friendliness (and probably after realizing how many of us were willing to leave) they have decided to keep pets welcome! They are no longer allowing large dogs to be future residents but all animals here now are welcome to stay! So Pokey and I can continue our wonderful life in our happy home!! Yay! Thank you so much to all of you for your encouragement! It meant the world to me. I am as happy today as the day Pokey came home with me! I can't stop smiling from ear to ear! I think Pokey knows the result too because she is just as giddy and excited as me right now. We are just having a lil hug n smoochie fest!:) |
