Need some ideas Hello, I just purchased a yorkie from a breeder and he had a rough start. I posted some of the details last week. My new concern is that he doesnt want to play with toys, he seems to really want to play - but he just doenst seem to know how. Any ideas?? I purchased a small toy that he could get into his little mouth and throw around. But he wont get near it. I likes to chew on things, just not the toys. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!! |
getting down on the floor and playing with him can help. Get squeeker toys - the noise gets their attn. Some dogs love the crinkly toys. A ball rolled across the floor is a favorite for many pups. I would recommend some bully sticks to chew on to make sure the chewing is constructive |
Yes, you sometimes have to show them how to play with them. Madison was 2 yrs old when I found him and he didn't have a clue what a toy was or how to play with one....it took him awhile but he started out picking it up and carrying it and then he started throwing it in the air,and now he chews on them......he isn't into the squeaky ones so much, he likes to chew things...Max loves the squeaky ones. Find the thread about the DIY sock toy....Madison LOVES that one and I put some of his kibble into the bottle (and put the top on the bottle)so it would rattle and he just chews away on it....great toy and cheap:D |
