Growth Question Ok, so I know that the growth chart is just a guide...but I am a little concerned. When we got Becks a little over 6 weeks ago, he was 2.2 lbs at 13 weeks. According to the chart he was on target for about 4-4 1/2lbs. Today, he only weighs 2.6lbs (chart predicting an adult weight of 3-3 1/2lbs.) Now, I know that a 1lb difference in the adult weight is not a big deal (although we were more comfortable with the bigger size)...what really concerns me is that he has only gained 4 ounces in 6 weeks. According to the chart, he should have gained 10 more ounces than he has. Is this something that I should ask the vet about? We see a vet on base for his shots, but for anything else we take him in town. Should I call and ask the town vet? I am not normally such a worry wart...but our last yorkie was a very healthy 8lbs...I never had to worry about him :) I may cross post this on the health and diet board. |
i wouldn't be too concern unless he isn't eating or something...but if he is playful and healthy then he may just be a compact yorkie...hehe..don't stress too much about size and weight unless he is sick...good luck! |
Remember they usually hit a growth spurt about 5-7 months too :) I wouldn't be concerned if he is healthy :) |

She was supposed to be between 5-6 lbs, however, when I picked her up at 14 weeks she was still only 2 lbs. she's 6 months old now and just about weighs 3 lbs. She's very healthy. I've noticed she's becoming a little fussy with her food. I think when I first got her I was so worried about hypoglycemia happening, I catered a little too much. Not with table food or anything, but always the small nuggets available and now she really doesn't want to eat the soft food. I suppose that's o.k. as long as she's peeing and pooping and healthy.
