Need to know
 

Hi everyone. I need to check something. My grandfather passed away last week and the wake was tonight. The funeiral is in the morning. My delimea is that I took Tila with us today, I had a babysitter lined up. My sister was going to come to the wake for a little while, because she couldn't stay too long because she has three small children and is currently preggers. But she ended up staying so I had Tila with me. I let her out to use the bathroom and play, I sat with her in the car as well, made sure she had enough to drink and had something to eat. I took every precaution to make sure she was well. Since she ended up staying with us at the Church. I wasn't too happy about it, only because it was waaay too hot today! My question is do you think it will be all right to leave her home for about four hours by herself. Odie stays by himself with no problems, he is bigger and older though. I don't want to keep them in the same room together though, because I trust Odie, but not completely yet until Tila grows bigger. So I want to keep them in seperate rooms. Tila is 13 weeks and 2 and a half pounds. She will be in the bathroom, (it's supposed to be hotter tomorrow, and I have no-one to watch her, all my family will be at the funeral) The bathroom is the coolest place in the house and I can leave the window open for air, and leave food and safe toys, pee pads and plenty of water for her. I know she'll cry and won't like it too much. But I don't know what to do. Do you think she will be safe and all right to be left alone for awhile? Thanks.

There's nothing wrong with leaving a pup alone for 4 hours. I worked full time when Bailey was a puppy. I worked about a mile from home. I would come home at lunch time and sometimes during afternoon breaks. She was fine. As far as safety, I crated her and there was no problem.

First of all, so sorry for the loss of your Grandfather! Do have a pen you could put her in? She will probably be fine in the bathroom, but I would make sure that there is absolutely nothing that she can get into! Mine used to chew on the wallpaper and the corners of any cabinets they could find! Good luck!!

I think she will do just fine...just remember to make sure there is nothing harmful for her to get into. Make sure to remember to put the seat down on the toilet too! A lot of member keep their little ones in the bathroom. Try to relax about it. She should be fine. When mine were little i always kept a little karo in their water to make sure we had no hypoglycemia. I keep mine in an xpen when i cant be with her. She has food, water, bed. toys and potty paper. She has always done just fine.

I don't think it would be a problem .... just close the Toilet seat and put the Trash Can up ..... and she should be fine .... ;)

Thanks, I'm sure she'll be fine. But my dad says I worry way too much. And I just needed a little reassurance since I feel kind of bad for leaving her, and for having to keep her with me in the hot weather we had today. But, matters out of my hands. Thanks again. I am going to be farther than a mile away as well and won't be able to check on her. Eek, I freak out about everything.

LOL, I thought my Bella was the only one that chews on the walls and cabinets. Too funny!

Make sure the TP is where she cannot get it. My husband won't put a new roll on the hanger and the dogs have more than once shredded TP all over the house. Looked like it snowed!! LOL
Also make sure she cannot get into the cabinet with cleaners in it. Even a lick of a drip could be bad.
Relax, we have all had to leave our dogs before.

I think leaving your puppy in the bathroom will be fine. She's the same age/weight as my Bella and I ended up leaving Bella alone for 3 hours a few days after I got her. She was fine when I got home, I was the one that was having heart failure. :D

I originally used a playpen to keep her in because she was so tiny, and then Bella turned into Houdini and could always manage to get out of it. The last time being I had left her in it for my quick trip to the doctor's office. I came home and looked in the playpen and no Bella. She had escaped and I did the "where's my dog"....and she had escaped to my room and was waiting for me there with this cute little expression of "see what I can do mom"?

Do you have a crate or playpen you can put her in?
I'm sure she'll be fine :) You've received a lot of good advice.

I am sorry to hear about your grandfather. She should be fine while you are gone. Just shut the toilet, put the trash up and don't forget to put the toilet paper where she can't reach it either. Nothing like have to clean up a whole roll tore all to pieces.
