NOOO! she's one of THOSE!! i was always so happy that sophie was not the type to pee when she got excited. lately, however, she gets so happy to see me when i get home, i can't pick her up without risking dropping her. She squirms and cries so much, it's either that -- or she pees on the floor when she gets happy. i have known other yorkies to do this, and i was thanking god that sophie was not that kind, haha but this just started recently. She isn't quite housebroken yet, so will that change things, or will i have to just prepare for a lifetime of cleaning pee pee when she gets excited?? :p |
How do you react to her when you get home? Everytime I've seen this on a training show, they say you should ignore them when you come in the door and they are really excited. Don't say anything, don't pet them or anything until they calm down first. Part of it might be that she is still a puppy! Good luck! |
I saw the same thing as the above poster. I saw it on "It's Me or the Dog". It worked on the show, I think the trainer, Victoria Stillwell is great. Good Luck!:) |
usually, i don't do anything. i crate her when i'm gone, and by the time i get home and let her out, she starts jumping on me and it just slips out haha but i will try the advice; as hard as it may be :) |
This happens with Bella too. If I have been away, even if it's only 15 minutes, she gets so excited she's like a spastic little puppy. On the other hand she always will not pee on her pee pad if she's mad at me. So we are working on it slowly and she's improving. I just walk in and let her calm down and then we greet and play and she's fine. But if it's my nieces or nephew going to see her I have to keep reminding them to settle down and let Bella calm down so she doesn't have an accident. |
You might try leaving her in her crate for a minute or two after you get home. After you let her out just walk away before she starts to jump and gets excited to see you. |
Ollie was like that. I had to not talk to them when I walked in the door. That was sooooo hard. He grew out of it at a little over a year old, hopefully your girl will too. |
