Crate Dilemma Does anyone else have rude furbabies? Cuz I am sure I have enough rudeness in Bette for everyone's furbaby. When I go to bed, if Bette isn't in my bed, she's jump on the side of it ALL NIGHT LONG until you let her up. Sometimes .. she does this high pitched bark that sounds like a scream and it makes your teeth grind like nails on a chalkboard you let her up. And sometimes, she jumps so long you're afraid for her knees because Luxating Patella is scary and sometimes .. she's so cuuuute how could i say no!? :D |
exactly, give her what she wants....that's what emma gets |
I have a little footstool next to my bed. It saves her from jumping. They also sell sets of stairs for this purpose. Your Yorkie just wants to be with you. I don't think she's being rude, just wants to be next to you at all times. Why not save her little knees and get something to help her on the bed. :) |
Mufasa does the EXACT same thing. He always sleeps with me but should he get down and want back up he comes to my side of the bed, stands up and whines or barks until I pick him up and put him on my bed. Sure, it's a pain sometimes because I'm asleep and he wakes me up but I love that he wants to sleep with me so I scoop him up and put him on my bed. He finds him a comfy spot and he's out like a light! |
I was going to suggest stairs, footstool or an ottoman on the side of the bed. Our two little ones sleep in crates and Crosley has a whole chaise lounge that she sleeps on! |
My Katie sleeps with me. She manages to jump on the bed ok. I was watching a Yorkie video the other day of someone with a piece of board covered in carpet that their Yorkie used to get up and down on. It used it as a slide and looked so cute. I'm wondering weather to crate my new puppy and leave her downstairs, seems mean though, but I haven't much room in my bed, it's only a single. Great ideas given though. I never though of putting a stool or something at the side when Katie was younger. Hugs Shirl x x :animal-pa |
Bella sleeps with me. I haven't even considered crating her. I mean I have, but it just doesn't get to the point of being accomplished. She did sleep in a playpen for all of 5 days total but hated it and whined. Then she learned she could climb it, and then learned she could just take a running jump and get out of it and that just caused more stress for me. I mean she's tiny and I don't wanna have any broken bones or worse. So Bella has her spot on the bed and she has a few toys so that way if she wakes up and wants to play in the middle of the night she can. I have a really high bed though so right now Bella does not jump off of it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she never gets brave enough to do it either because it's a good 2 1/2 feet off the floor. When I got my bed I got a set of steps for the bed and ended up getting the 3 steps instead of 2 so I could use it as a table kinda because I don't need to use the steps (but my niece and nephew love to play on them). So anyway to make a long story less dragged out Bella will hopefully use those steps to learn to get up and off of the bed. |
