How do I stop the hand chewing?? I guess I jinxed myself by naming my dog Chewie...lol! How do I get him to stop chewing on my hands?? I tried yelping when he did it which worked for a while, now it doesn't phase him. Also, the face nipping is getting irritating becasuse now he's barking when he jumps up in my face. Anyone know a trick to resolve this? |

Kingston is a hand chewer as well and I have found nothing that works, so if you do let me know . |
Bella is an anything chewer. If she can get your hands, she nibbles on them, or your ears, or your hands, your ribs, and even the ankles. She only does it when she's really hyper and wants to play though so I started using Bitter Apple with Bitter Yuck and so far that has helped ALOT. The ignoring didn't work so well because she would just play with something else and then when I would come back around 30 minutes later it would start all over again. |
Well, looks the bitter stuff is going to be the next step. I accidently got a tiny bit on my hands once and then touched my lip or something. It took forever for that taste to go away, lol! Lets just hope I don't do it again. I'll letcha know how it works :D |

Omg... i have the same problem with my lil yorkie... his name is Chewie too!!! hahaha... guess we did jinx ourselves  |
might try a clicker. click when chewie chews and treat him when he stops chewing when he hears the click. It really worked with Emma and her barking at her friends |
It looks like the clicker may be the next try... Chewie licked the bitter stuff of my hands and starting gnawing away again...omgggg!!! |
Sorry Bitter Apple doesn't work for Chewie. it didn't work with Meeko either, he loved it! He didn't like tobasco tho. You could try that. The second Meeko sniffed it, he left me alone. Someone also suggested to me to rub a lemon on my hands. I didn't have to try the lemon, so I don't know if it works. Just a few more suggestions. Good luck! |
