help...my gal is pregnant with 1 puppy hi everyone just got to the vet today. my baby girl is pregnant, shes about 7 weeks now. shes 3 1/2 yrs old and weigh only about 4 lbs. she got pregnant accidently by my yorkie boy. I didnt mean to breed her since shes so small, but accident do happen right... so I took her to the vet today, and the vet said shes carrying only 1 puppy, and its big also, since the daddy is bigger than her..and she mostly will need a c-section. this really worries me, I know this vet is very professional and experineced in doing this. I trust him, still it bothers me. will raising 1 puppy be problem?? is it difficult for the lil guy since he got no friend?? pls pray for my lil gal..the vet says shes due around july 12/13. thank you |
I would honestly worry more about the momma being OK than the boy. Dogs have single litters all the time. I would think that a c-section will most definately be needed given the information you have provided. I would talk w/ your vet about this option and opt for it rather than letting her try to deliver it naturally--a planned c-section is a better option than an emergency one anyday. In the meantime, make sure that she is getting the care and nutrition she needs and get the items you will need to care for her and the little one after the birth in order. Educate yourself on warning signs that she is distressed or in trouble--both before and after the delivery. (Signs of infection, eclampsia, mastitis, etc) Make sure you arrange your schedule so that you can be with her 24/7 the days following. And most importantly, have her spayed ASAP when it is all said and done to prevent another accident.:) |
thank you for your reply yes my vet also said the same thing, he's gonna plan when to have the c-section. Im supposed to bring her back in a week, then can determine the date for sure. once again pls pray for her... |
I will definately keep my fingers crossed for the both of you. Sounds like you are on the right track. Just research all you can about proper care for her in the meantime. There is load of great info here. Ask SPECIFIC questions about issues that you need info on and you will surely get alot of help and advice. |
If you don't mind me asking, how much does your male weigh? Misty gave you great advice :) |
