Bonding with a second Yorkie We brought Daisy home 10 days ago. She is a little sweetheart, but she's very timid, and has yet to give me any puppy kisses :( She seems to be bonding more with Sophie than with me. If that's normal, then I'm ok with that. I just want to know if that's how it normally is, or if I'm doing something wrong? |
awww no puppy kisses that is very strange...how old is she? |
She is 10.5 weeks old. She is so unlike Sophie in that she is very reserved. She checked out fine with the vet. Sometimes it seems that she isn't hearing or seeing well  but I've tested her with sights and noises and she will respond. She rarely seeks out attention from me, unless I leave her alone in the room. Then she will yelp. But when I'm close by, that seems to be enough for her. OTOH, Sophie is an attention hog and always has been. :D |
I would say that Magic and Sailor bonded together before Sailor really started bonding to us...Magic had to show her how everything works around our house and what to do and not do...then once they were comfortable together, Sailor really bonded with us...she now loves to be cuddled and loved on...I would say that it took a couple of days, maybe a week, for all this to happen!!! |
I wouldn't worry, it is just taking her a little longer to come around than it does when there is only one dog and one mommy to bond.... it's great that Sophie and her are bonding already. Some furbabies are just more out-going and affectionate than others. As for her hearing... just like skin-kids, she probably doesn't have a hearing problem but a LISTENING problem! :p She is a typical baby... |
She's been here 10 days, but in her defense, she got sick on day 2. She came to us with coccidia :thumbdown She's doing much better, but she's still really drained. SHe's only 1.5 lbs. I hope in time that she will bond more with me. Lord knows, I'm trying! She's probably tired of 'mommy kisses'. |
Pixie bonded immediately with Tuffy but it took a while for her to bond to me and my husband. She had a hard time warming up to me especially for some reason. She also got sick a little while after I got her from something she picked up at the vets and that made it even more slow going. Just keep giving her love and attention and she'll come around.. it's a big lifestyle change for them so give it a bit of time. :) Good luck! :D |
