licking neutered incision Bentley just got neutered 2 days ago and I can tell he is still out of it. Anyways the vets didnt put anything over top of the incison or give him a collor thing. I've been keeping an eye of him and notice that he is licking the wound but not biting at it, is that ok? Its a little red but its not swolen or oozing or anything. I wasnt sure if I should get him a onesie to wear so he doesnt go near it at all or if him licking it is ok? Thanks |
Maximus licked his cut also and actually pulled the scab off of it...he went AROUND the ecollar and the onsie to do this....the vet (mine) told me not to let him touch it because of infection so he has been walking around in diapers :( ...my poor baby but it is almost all healed!! |
You know what? I put a Band-Aid over Sully's little "wound" after he got neutered so he couldn't lick it. And it worked! It looked funny/cute - but it worked. |
You should be able to go to a pet store and pick up a E Collar for him. Dont let him lick it, it might become infected. |
band-aid is a good idea...I was told they shouldn't lick it...I'd either get a onsie or get a collar..they sell them at petsmart too.... |
I tried the bandaid...but Maximus kept playing with it....even worse then before...grrr |
Aww thanks you guys so much! I just put a band-aid on Bentleys incision, he keeps licking at it but atleast I know he cant actually get to it which makes me feel better! Now when I go to take it off is it gonna hurt or is there a way to take it off easier Thanks again! |

My dogs get neutered and spayed tomorrow. I hope they give us Ecollars. I think you can get them at the pet store. |
how long does it take to heal? I have the bandaid on him right now so Im just wondering how long I should keep it on there. Thanks |
As long as he doesn't bite it, then he should be fine. If you decide to cover it, make sure the fabric breathes very well. |
