Hi - I'm a new Yorkie mom
 

My name is Dana and I have had my new furbaby, Bella, for almost 4 weeks now. I seriously cannot remember what my life was like before I got her. She is without a doubt the best way I have spent my money! So much so that I am now convinced that she needs a fursibling so I don't spoil her too much (too late tho). She is enjoying being the only child so far and is loving all the attention she receives.

I am surprised I did not come across this website when I was researching breeders and whatnot. I am glad I did find it. I have learned so much from all of you experienced Yorkie owners. My vet has appreciated it too since when I took Bella in for her first vet appointment I went in with about 4 pages full of questions. Needless to say I am a bit overprotective about my Bella - but she is so small I just can't help myself.

Bella is 13 weeks and weighs 2 1/2 pounds. She had really small parents (although i didn't find out until after I read the AKC papers that her daddy was only 4 mths old when he impregnated her momma). Which upset me alot, but live and learn. I know where Bella's siblings will come from, and I think some of you may have purchased a puppy from her as well (mother-daughter yorkies). I had spoken with her right before I went to get Bella.

Anyway, Bella is so hyper it's funny. When I first got her she was so quiet she wouldn't even make a sound. She whined just a bit on the way to her first vet appt, and had the vet laughing at her because she kept catching the vet try to give her the shot being sneaky. Bella's no fool. Then she barked once at my brother in law and since then she's a barking, spastically hyper puppy. She looks like a little rabbit when she runs. It's so cute.


I think I have rambled on enough but I just wanted to introduce myself and Bella. AND to say thank you for all the wonderful advice I have picked up so far from here -- especially about the dog food!!

Welcome to YT Dana and Bella!!! I think getting another one so soon would be fine. Then you could do both potty training AND all the other puppy training all at once rather than waiting till Bella is older and having to do it all over again :)

We just got a new puppy too and I can tell you after having had quite a few puppies of other breeds this one is by far the most funny and sweet little 'rabbit'... LOL!!!
