omg I'm going to cry I was just sitting here on the sofa getting my grades finalized while the girls were playing... Somehow Jaya decided she needed to put Jenna straight about something..only god knows what, and started doing her whole bullying thing... the growling and intimidation. I'm trying to stay uninvolved...:( trying to ignore it.... so then..they stopped, ...then started up again. Jenna was running all around the house trying to get away from her. I know when they are playing and when they are not - this was clearly Jaya enforcing her power What really upset me just now is when they stopped, Jenna went into her xpen and grabbed her teddybear and started doing what Jaya does to her... wrestling and growling and biting at it. My poor little baby. Is she trying to boss around her teddy like Jaya does to her? Or is she trying to release her frustration out on it? My poor little Jenna-Benna :( What can I do to make her feel better???? My heart just breaks for her :( poor little thing... |
awe your poor baby! give her a hug for me! dogs are alot like children. so she could actually be taking it out on the bear. i'd put jaya in her kennel as soon as she starts growling and such. show her that mom isn't going stand for it. |

Think of the good, at least they are not bored. Human kids do this too, I don't know if a way of showing dominance, but I know now it doesn't bother them, like I thought it did. I do think you are right she is imitating her sister, but like all sisters who squabble they still love each other, and I don't really think she feels frustrated. Again, I disagree with the idea of crating as a means of punishment, they are learning their place in the pact, and Jenna keeps challenging her sister, eventually she'll either give in, or become the dominant one. If it gets to rough, a fiirm "no" a hand clap, or the canned pennies should do the trick. I'll bet they're loving this. |
Our three get into from time to time and sometimes they sound so mean, I'm afraid they are going to hurt each other. We always intervene when it's getting too out of hand. We make a sharp noise, shake a can of coins or spray water to stop the situation. I agree with the other poster, we don't put any of them in their crate or playpen, because we don't want it viewed as a punishment place. These our their sleeping places and for Camden, she stays in a playpen when we are gone. So we don't want it viewed as negative. I've said this in another post that the dogs get over these situations alot quicker than we do! They are like siblings and they get on each other's nerves and fight for attention. Then they kiss and make up and start it all over again! :) |
