Ears... I wanna try to trim Trixie-Belle's ears myself.. Any tips? lol She has some perky ones, they are just kinda hidden because of the long hair... Do I have to cut all the hair off, or can I just do it so you can see the lining enough? |
We trim off the hair in the top 1/3 of the ear with a clipper in the shape of a V. I usually hold the ear with my thumb near the base on the outside and my other fingers acting as a platform on the inside to hold it flat while trimming. I work on the ear away from me, so the dog is between my hands and my body to prevent wiggling away. Wigglers go up on the kitchen counter so they can't get traction to pull away. |

I will try this and see if I understand it more when I go to do it. lol Thanks :) |
Another thing I would add is that when I trim the outer edges of the ears, I trim against the direction the hair grows. Does anyone else do this? It was the only way I could do it and get a good, straight cut along the outline of the ears. :) |
Ears Don't forget the inner ear that hair needs to be pulled out too. To avoid other problems and infection, such as yeast. |

Ya,know...it's easy to show this, but really hard to put into words that make sense....I hope I made SOME??? |
I use to trim Maggie's ears while she was asleep. Just the top 1/3 edge. I leave the inside to the groomer. |
