Pet friendly bug repellent We are taking the Boyz on a roadtrip to Northern Ontario where there are mosquito's and black flies. Does anyone have any recommendations for a pet friendly bug spray? Thanks Lorraine and the MonkeyBoyz Sedrick and Doogan |
sorry i don't. just wondering where in Northern Ontario... that's where i'm from :) |
Bugs Hi, I live in NE Oklahoma in a heavily wooded area with insects galore. I use the Avon Skin So Soft in a spray bottle on my dogs & myself. Don't completely wet them down because they'll get really oily. Just some good spritz's & rub em down. It really works. Have a good trip. |

Here are some great ways to keep bugs off the babies without those terrible chemicles. Chinaroad Lowchens of Australia - Ticks, fleas, bees, flies, snakes and other gremlins! And how to deal with them! |
I use Listerine mouthwash on myself & my babies. Just a spray mist keeps the 'squita's away. :) |

Will skin so soft repel ticks and fleas (including sand fleas) as well? |
This pass weekend I was at a out door baby shower and the host gave us fabric softeners sheets to rub on us to keep the bugs away. So I right away thought of trying it on the furkids, have not done so yet but I am soon. |
Someone posted before that BOUNCE dryer sheets work really well... I don't really know if its true, but I will definitely give it a try!! |
I'm glad someone bumped this. I saw it earlier and posted a question on my Alaska blog to see what people had to say. Then I couldn't find it! Here's the advice Alaska dog lovers had. They definitely know mosquitoes. I can't vouch for any of them personally, but the people who offered the advice are knowledgeable dog people. * Burts Bees * K-9 Advantix * Eqyss Grooming Products - Summer Defense Marigold Horse Spray It's a natural botanical spray that actually works (pesticide free). It works up to 8 hours and is non toxic, pesticide free and alcohol free. It won't burn eyes. * There are pet products w/ essential oils that naturally repel bugs. Look for these ingredients in shampoos and spritzers:CEDARWOOD, CITRONELLA, LEMONGRASS,PENNYROYAL TEA TREE OIL,GERANIUM, CATNIP. (Preliminary studies have shown catnip oil to be 10 times more effective at repelling mosquitos! ) and EUCALYPTUS OIL |
