What a cutie!! I have a 13 pounder that is an AKC Yorkie and no one ever believes it!! |
2 Attachment(s) Well, this is pretty crazy! It has been over 5 years since I made this post, and over 5 years that Lilo has been with me. Because of the host of issues Lilo came to me with, I ended up apprenticing under a professional dog trainer and am now working as one myself. I made to switch from graphic design and I couldn't be happier. I work at The Urban Hound Hotel & Daycare in Boston and Lilo loves coming to work with me every day, not to mention he is one of the most obedient dogs I know. Anyways, the real reason for me coming back to make this post. So many people doubt me when I tell them that I believe Lilo is a purebred Yorkie (other than you lovely Yorkie folks) so I caved and decided to try a dog breed DNA test. I gave the company no clues as to what I believed Lilo was, nor did I upload a photo. The results came back a couple of weeks ago, and what do you know? You were all right! Just wanted to thank you all again for being so nice when I made that original post, and now I can proudly say that I am a true lover of this breed. PS: I'm throwing in a current picture of me and Lilo <3 He is roughly 7-8 years old now and loves life. |
I had no doubt looking at him that he was 100% yorkie. I am so glad he found you and that he is doing so well. Thanks for the update. :) |
Thanks for the update. He truly looks all Yorkie, so I'm not at all surprised at the DNA results. People need to realize that Yorkies do come in different sizes, and there are several on here that are the same as Lilo. I am happy you found each other and it has all worked out well. |
Welcome back to YT :) |
I thought he looked all yorkie to me too! What a cutie he is! |
Such an awesome story with Lilo, and a magnificent teapot he is! |
What an awesome story and fantastic outcome. How cool to letting your love for your dog lead you on a new career path! Lilo is a handsome little man, but then again I am partial to the bigger boys myself. More to love. |
The DNA results don't surprise me at all. Lilo is such a cutie. I love that he led your life in a different direction/path :) I just am wondering about his original owners. They had a collar and name tag on him..they obviously didn't want to lose him. Was Lilo ever scanned for a micro chip? Just curious. You and Lilo are obviosly very happy together but it sure would be cool to somehow find his original owners to let them know he's alive and healthy and happy. Just thinking out loud...if I lost my baby 5 years ago, it would still be tomenting me. |
Thanks for updating us! He definitely looks full yorkie, it's cool that you did the dna test and found out for sure. Sounds like he has a great life! I wish my two could come to work with me everyday! |
He is seriously adorable! I love his face! |
Thanks everyone! He is seriously the best thing that's ever happened to me. He's my best friend and has turned a few people who "only like big dogs" into small dog lovers! I love him for that lol Quote:
He was scanned for a microchip the day I found him! I tried everything to find his owners, as I had no intention of getting a dog at that time. We posted online, flyers, called local shelters, animal controls, and vet offices. When no on claimed him, the city said I could keep him..so I did! I always wonder about his old life and where he came from. I hate that I'll never know. If only they could talk. |
It really would be awesome if they could talk, huh? I say that all the time lol Well, as I said..you two have obviously changed each other's life. That is a wonderful thing :) |
