Dogs adjust a lot quicker than people. Chester will look to you for reassurance. If you adjust well, then it will be a piece of cake for him. Good luck to the both of you! |
I agree with the others, if you look at this move as a 'positive' thing your baby will pick up on your vibes. See it as an adventure - an opportunity to try something new:D |
As long as he is with you - he will be fine |

I just moved from a house with a yard to an apartment and my girls are fine - it took some time but they're just happy to be with me.... so the move will probably be a good thing for you guys....loose pitts is NOT A GOOD THING ANYWHERE ! |
Look at it this way: Lots of new places to explore. Most animals adjust alot easier than people do. Let Chester play in the boxes, play chase around them, make it seem like a big game. Best wishes in your new home. |
He will be fine. Make sure you pack up his stuff last and unpack it first. Loki doesn't like change but as soon as his crate comes out he settles in no problem. We stayed with my brother for a weekend and he was restless for an hour or two and he kept going to the door to leave. As soon as I pulled out all of the toys I brought, his water and food bowls, his crate, etc. he realized we were staying for a while! Then he claimed my brother's bed as his own, HA! Sammy doesn't care - she is happy wherever she is. Sometimes I think the boys are more sensitive. :D |
I moved twice when my 2 were around 3 and 5 and they did just fine. I think in your case it would be for the best since you are not really happy where you are at and there is the constant threat of unfriendly pitbulls:eek:. I don't know if I could sleep with that one. tina |
honestly...we moved in Feb and Romeo had a very hard time adjusting. I brought all of his stuff and tried to make him feel comfy. He had to adjust to the new yard and house. I would recommend taking a few days off. He had accidents in the house and showed signs of stress. I hope your baby does well with the move. Next time I will make sure he stays with my mom while we physically move the stuff and set up so when Romeo arrives I can just concentrate on him. |
Echoing V. on this one: Pit bulls roaming = bad news! Maybe the move is a blessing in disguise, though I know that it is a hardship for you and may initially be rough for you both. Good luck! Thoughts and prayers. :) |
