Puppy Proofing!!! Am I missing anything? Okay, so I have gated off the kitchen. I made sure all spaces in between and under appliances are filled in so she can't get under or stuck. I made sure there are no cords within 3 feet from the floor or are covered. I sweep it about every day. There are no rugs or 'chewable' things on the floor except her toys and bed. I would like to give my little one a bit of freedom in the kitchen while I am in other parts of the house (about 30-45 min at a time) since she is doing better at potty training. Eventually, I want her to be a non-crated dog who has full house privileges like my doxie. When she has my full trust on potty training later, of course. Am I missing anything? |
sounds like you got a lot covered, as she gets older, however, keep in mind any loose baseboards and floor tiles, not to mention the legs of furniture. Even for 30-45 minutes alone she can still dig and chew. Something I found out with Generally is that he will eat anything that crosses his path. From a bird feather to bugs.:( Our kitchen is about as puppy proof also, but he managed to find things to do. check on her often especially if she is very quiet. Good luck.:animal36 |
Keep an eye on your cabinets and walls. If they get bored they can and will chew on them. |
Sounds like you are doing a fantastic job of puppy proofing. I would suggest child safe hardware on the bottom cabinets. I would also suggest getting down on the floor and look at things from "puppy" height to see if you have missed anything. Good luck! |
I always keep the toilet lid down and how about the garbage can |
chattiesmom......what is child proof hardware for cabinets? |
