no tailwagging or kisses? :( We've had Cruiser for 2 weeks now. He's now 13 weeks old. He does not wag his tail or give me kisses. Is that normal? I thought all dogs wagged their tails? And he will lick my hands but not my face. I know some people don't really like that but I want him to give me a kiss. He also doesn't seem excited to see me when I come home from work. My husband is home with him all day so it's not like he's alone but still you'd think he'd be happy to see his mom. But maybe he doesn't know I'm his mom yet. I hope he's happy in his new home even if he's not showing it in traditional ways... |
My little one was like that for a while. We have had her about 3 weeks now and she is starting to come around. She doesn't wag her tail much, but she does start to look a little excited when she hasn't seen me in a while. |
Give him some more time. Zoey was the same way when I first got her. Sylvia had told me how kissy she was. So when I didn't see it I worried. Well about two weeks later when she was super comfy it kicked in. God only knows she would like to kiss my face off if I let her. |

I agree, give him some more time. My Isabel to this day doesn't lick much..every once in a while she will lick my hand, but that's about it. |
I really think it is a yorkie thing. When I gor mine it took awhile for them to warm up too. |
It looks like you're not alone. I'm sure it will get better. I know Molly was a little nervous nelly when I first got her, but now she loves to be held and gives lots of kisses. But if I reach down to pick her up, she jumps back. I have to get to her level to pick her up, but we're working on that. Good luck. Just have patience and continue to give him all your love. |
My DH always gives a treat to the girls when he comes home. They act like he is their long lost best friend. He is so proud of how they love him, but I think the treat is part of his "charm.":D |
I'm so glad to hear that my puppy isn't the only one! I realize that there is an adjustment period and it's probably longer than 2 weeks. I just hope he likes it at our house. I think he does. I don't see why he wouldn't. He has treats and toys, a nice kennel and bed, and a large fenced yard. He gets to spend all day with my husband and with both of us in the evening. We give him lots of love and attention. He's eating pretty good. He just doesn't seem to have a ton of spunk. He does run and play sometimes, but he sleeps a lot too. He's cute as can be though! He makes me smile when I think about him. |
Roxie was like that at first, after a few weeks she turned into the biggest love bug and snuggler. It's funny to because Pixie was always a dog dog, she loves her dog family, she went in 2 weeks ago to have dental done and ever since she has been wanting to sit in my lap, gives kisses and wants to be right next to me. |

Some are more generous with kisses than others. I have three dogs...some are kissers and some are not. A friend's yorkie...never gives her kisses nor she is greeted with the enthusiasm...mine reserve for me. Just a difference in personalities...or maybe my dogs are neurotic. |
