I might my second yorkie tomorrow!! I saw an ad on my local Craigslist last night. A woman had to go into a retirement home and cannot keep her yorkie. She is supposed to be 7 years old and up to date on all shot, spayed and had a dental recently. I am going to meet her tomorrow morning. I have to drive about an hour, so I hope she shows up and it is legit! She is only asking $100 for her. I forgot to ask how much she weighs or her name. It doesn't matter to me what size she is anyway. I just want her to be healthly. I can't wait to buy her dresses. All I have is boy dogs. I will let everyone know how it goes tomorrow night. Be sure to tell us how it goes!! I am thinking about getting a 2nd Yorkie also...any thoughts from others about owning more than one Yorkie, my Yorkie is 5 yrs old... do you think I should get a puppy or an adult?? |

4 Attachment(s) Good news! I picked up Darla today. She is a little shy but friendly. She let Fritzel smell her and seemed okay with that. Everything was going fine until I put some toys in front of her. Dogs love those Hide a Squirrel toys too much. I guess she doesn't know how to share yet because she snapped at him. Later I put her in her crate and she guards her crate too. She is used to being an only dog, living with an elderly lady. I hope she will adjust in time. I don't want her to be unhappy with us. Fritzel doesn't mind her at all. Here are a few pics of them getting to know each other and her alone. She is 8 years old. The lady seemed to take good care of her. They had her teeth cleaned last November, and she has just been groomed. They said she has no health problems. She had 2 names, Darla and Bella. I don't know why. I like Darla better so that is what I am calling her. |
YAY!!! CONGRATS! She is a beauty. Give it time, I think it should work out, she must be scared and sad too, but I am sure you will shower her with lots of love :p |
She's a sweetie. I hope it all works out. Since she's 8, she is probably not at all used to having other doggie friends, either. I hope they become friends forever.:p |

Well so far she just wants to stay in her crate. She finally went to the bathroom. I couldn't get her to eat until I gave her canfood. She really likes that. She wouldn't even eat cheese, what dog doesn't like cheese? She is fine with the dogs when she is out of the crate and she does not have food near here. They all like her. She is still really shy. But I think she will come around. I think she just misses her former owner. I feel bad for them that they had to be separated! I couldn't be separated from Fritzel! |
Darla is adorable. Poor baby only needs time to adjust and find her place in your home. I am sure she will be a an additional loving member of your family. She must miss her owner terribly being 8yrs old. How terribly sad they had to be seperated but she's lucky to get you as her new Mommy. I bet within a week she will come out of her shell. She's scared and her create is the only thing she knows that's familiar to her so she finds that comforting. Best wishes. |
