Car Rides I need some more help! I want to take Bailey everywhere with me but he does not like the car. He whines and cries the entire time he is in the car. He also tends to throw-up!!! Please help. We recently bought a car seat for him. He does better in it but he still whines and then throws up right as we get into the driveway. Does anyone have experience/advice for us!! Please help Bailey join us!!! |
maybe you could try just sitting in the car without the engine on. After everyone is relaxed, try starting the engine, |
Car sick Hi...Jolie' loves to go all the time, however, our shih-tzu Gigi wants to go but she gets sick in the car. They are like humans when it comes to this. We have to leave her home when we go....I don't want her feeling bad. |
Hhhmmm I can't really give you advice on it ..... ours has been in the car going places with us since we brought her home ..... Maybe try going around the Block ..... a few min a day and try to get him used to it that way ..... |
I like alisonj's advice. Take him in the car when it's not running and give him a treat. Then let him out. Do it again and again. Make going to the car fun. I don't have any experience with dogs that get carsick. I like your idea of getting a carseat that he can see out of. If carsickness is a problem, I'd try taking some short trips to get him used to driving. Good luck, and let us know how it goes. |
:aimeeyork I have a 15 week old who does the same thing.. She shakes like crazy, and pants, yep, and vomits too. I have read somewhere that this behavior is out of fear and anxiety. I agree to start out slow and for shorter trips. That is what I am trying to do.:aimeeyork The vet can give them something for it, but , I want to continue to work with my own little Yorkie pup.:aimeeyork |
My boyfriends chihuahua starts drooling when we go in cars. ( really bad) We started taking him in the car on shorter trips and keeping him distracted. (small treats, giving him a toy to play with) He is getting better and likes to go in the car now. |
Bonine is the answer!!! Tucker gets carsick really bad, he drools and freaks out. If I give him a 1/2 tablet of Bonine (he's 6 1/2 lbs.) he does wonderfully. He'll look out the window and be happy as a clam. Try it! You won't regret it. Thanks again to the YT member who suggested it to me! |
We want Mufasa to go everywhere with us too and at first he was scared to death...shaking and crying (luckily he never threw up though). We just kept taking him and taking him and each time he got more used to it and now he just curls up in the back seat with one of the kids and goes to sleep. It's just something they have to get used too. Obviously if he is throwing up he's getting car sick and sorry I don't have any advice for that but looks like others do. I'd be broken-hearted if I had to leave Mufasa home. Mufasa is NOT crazy, however, about his collar. I put a collar on him a few days ago because if I do take him to one of the kids' sporting events outside then I'll have to put a leash on him and can't if he doesn't love his collar. So, he gets aggravated with it and scratches at it but he'll get used to it. I hope! HA Good luck to you! |
