My little puppy needs her nails cut...help! My little LuLu is 2 months old and her nails are soooo sharp. Anyone know how old before I can cut them? They are so lightweight, I'm afraid to do anything to them. I use a thing called "Peticure" ...it works wonders on my nine yr old Chewy. It's like an electric file thingeee. It's also very hard to do anything to her (Lulu) nails...she doesn't sit still for a minute. I forgot how wild puppies are. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate. Thanks. |
Her nails are so tiny you could probably use a regular nail clipper. When they are pups I wait until they are sleeping and then I do a few. I just try to do a few at a time. When they get older then I will give them a treat and teach them to sit while I cut their nails but she is so young I would just creep up on her while she's asleep!! Good Luck! |
When they are that young you can use regular people nail clippers. Just take off the very tips. The you can use a nail file on them so they aren't so sharp. If you clip them right after her bath, the nails will be soft. They will cut more easily and they won't make that little "click" noise. Sometimes the noise is the scariest part for puppies! |
Petsmart does walk in appointments for this sort of thing. You can wait there while it's being done. |
