He's worse than a needy/clingy child!!! Oh my, Koda has been something else lately! I don't know what has gotten into him. He is 15mos old and acts like a needy, clingy 1 yr old child, lol! Kind of like my youngest boy who was attached to my hip from birth to 3 1/2 years old 24/7! The past 2 weeks or so he has been on my heels, licking me or in my face non-stop. Same with DH. If he is not touching one of us and were not giving him 100% of our attention at all times he will sit there and litterly whimper and cry so pathetically! DH was testing him with this the other day by sitting on the couch beside me and covering his own face w/ his hands so Koda couldn't see it. Koda would sit there and whimper or come running over to me and crying while looking back and forth from me to DH like saying "Mooommmmm, Daddy won't look at me!" DH would move his hands from one side of his face to another to "juke" Koda and he would try to peek around it and when he couldn't sit there and cry! With me he has been licking me NON-stop and just sit there and look at me with his tongue hanging out smiling like he's saying "Hi Mom, it me Koda! see me I am right here! Play with me!" lol! if I am not directing all of my attention to him. Also he will sit and bark his high pitched bark which usually means he is trying to tell us something. Yes, I know my babies barks and what the tones/pitches of them mean, to those who may wonder :p Gosh I love him to death, but it's kind of ridiculas, lol! We have not had any family, food, house changes recently that would trigger this. Nor have they furkids been left at home for more than 3 hours at a time to cause him to feel like we are abandoning him. They are totally SPOILED;) He has been to the Vet in the past 3 mos and his health checked out A-OK! Kammie is her usual bitter sweet self, lol! Boy, does this girly have quite the spoiled little girl attitude, lol! So is he just going through a phase do you guys think? I thought maybe it was cause my skin kids have been outside a lot playing in the nice weather, and he wants to go out and play too?!?! BUT Koda & Kammie get tons of outside playtime, so he is not deprived by any means,;) What could be going on with him? It's kind of over the top:animal36 |
To be honest with you that is Buddy every waking minute of the day and he's 4:eek: I think this breed could never, ever live without being in the lime light every waking minute. My heart breaks for those Yorkies who do not get this attention when they crave it so. Your baby, maybe, is just catching on what he can do more for attention. He will never leave you alone now, Never! LOL Enjoy I can't even go into the bathroom without him on my lap looking up at me. Sick huh? |
I think this breed is predisposed to that behaviour...lol |
i agree, i think this is just how Yorkies are. My baby is getting worse the older he gets. i could be sitting literally RIGHT next to him but if i'm not cuddling or playing with him he starts whimpering. When i leave the room he gives me this "where the heck do u think YOU'RE going??" look. it's hilarious that such a cute, sweet face can be so EXPRESSIVE. lol! |
Maybe Koda and Buddy are related, lol! Quote:
My furkids certainly does not lack attention, I live my day around making them content it seems:D Maybe Koda and Buddy need to get together, they sound a lot alike:D |
Bizzymammabee, I think your right, lol! Missanimelvr, thats exactly how Koda is :) I just love the expressions they make :) |

LOL Wouldn't that be nice. Do you think they would keep each other company? At least for a minute? Probably not. They would be too busy looking for Mommy! I think they are just plain ole"Mommy's Boys". |
Mommy, I need you! I WUV you Mommy!! Quote:

Sounds just like a yorkie to me.:D |

Oh, so you are also having a privacy issue???No bathroom time alone, no shower, no nothing, if I'm doing the dishes and have my back to him , he starts crying and jumping, for me to pick him up and seat him on the kitchen counter so he can see my face, he is not allowed on the kitchen counter, but my mom sat him there once and he loved it, he is so spoiled.... |

I dont know about you, but I love it. :) |

aren't yorkies just precious!!?? I think they are all like that. I have 4 potty partners and a full parade wherever i go in the house! :D If i shut the door to the bathroom, they stick their noses under the door and start scratching on the door or stick their paws under the door and try to get my attention...do they think i am going to escape somehow?? Yep...i always have an audience whatever i am doing. :aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
Peanut was on my bed this afternoon with his sock,a whole other issue, and he was laying down. I left the room and he started barking I went back and he would curl all up at my pillow. This happens all the time, I go back and forth to the bedroom and all he wants is to have me curl up with him. No he is not spoiled at all!:D |
I have 5 yorkies that all demand lots of attention and a Papillon that is most of the time a loner. My Pom/Chi mix is pretty independent. I think i love Yorkies because they are so demanding and time consuming.:) |
Alright so he's not acting abnormally then, lol! Maybe he is finding his identity too and that consumes of full doses of Mommy, Mommy & Mommy all the time :) Wonder if Kammie will change to later on and she will not be such a snooty little thang ;) She acts like her Mommy is the only one that is important in the world and everyone else is non-existant, lol! Can you say BRAT all the way :) I love hearing stories about all other furbutts! :) Thanks for the reassurance everyone ;) |
no private time My Chunk does the same things. He always follows me into the bathroom and waits until I'm done. Weird huh? He lays on my feet when I'm doing the dishes and while I'm cooking. I worry about the cooking part. I'm afraid he's going to get burned. That's when I have the family step in and distract him. I've had dogs all my life and Chunk's my first yorkie. He sure is a different breed. I just love him to pieces. Chunk's mom A righteous man regards the life of his animal... Proverbs 12:10 |
Yoda is the same way he will even paws at my hand to get attention, he will talk to you if you ignore him and he can't reach me, I too can tell the difference in his different sounds from cries to whimpers to barks. cgennawey in the kitchen have you tried placing a mat somewhere out of the way for him to lay on this works for Faith and Yoda. With our family Faith is a daddy's girl and Yoda is the mommy's boy. |

I'm experiencing the same thing with Tucker. Lexie is still her little Ms. Independent self, but Tucker has started being really clingy. I was sick in the bathroom the other day and hubby said since Tucker couldn't find a way into the bathroom he just curled up against the door looking terribly sad. I think mine stems from taking several trips recently where he and Lexie were with us 24/7 and the fact that I'm not working this summer and he's gotten to spend a lot more time with me. I can't help but love it though! :) |
Lulu is the same way! She follows me everywhere. She is on my lap as we speak, and it doens't even matter that my boyfriend is in the same room, she has to be up my skirt every minute of the day. It's sweet and all but she is spoiled rotten! |
Last night I got in the pool with my son for a little while and Mufasa stood at the back door and yelped and cried and barked for 15 minutes until I told my son to go get him and bring him outside. We have this float thingy in our pool that you can put your drink to keep it cold and in the middle of the float is just an wide open space. We put Mufasa in the middle of it and he just floated around the pool as happy as he could be because he was with me. When I decided to get out of the pool I went inside to take a shower. I got in the shower and Mufasa stood outside the shower curtain and yelped and barked and whined. I kept talking to him so he would know I was in there and that he wasn't alone, yada yada yada. Well, next thing I know he's IN the shower with me just looking up at me like he was so proud of himself. He literally stayed in the shower with me until I got out. When I got out, I dried myself off and then had to dry him off. It really was too cute!!!! :) |
