Teapot? Where did this start? Is this just a cute name for any yorkie over 7 lbs? People get so offended when the term "teacup" is used but it doesn't seem that way for "teapot"? I'm just curious. |
I remeber a few years back on this sight someone was making fun of the teacup thing... saying I don't have a teacup, I have a teapot. So it was a member here. I just do not remember who. Also the problem with the teacup, it is someone using that word to sell usually underage puppies that could be ill. Basically saying it will be smaller means more $$$$$ That is why it upsets people it is a ploy! |

I personally think that there is also some confusion over the "teacup" label. I don't get offended when people use the term, I just assume they are ignorant, but I do get upset when a breeder uses the term. A breeder should know better, and this leads me to believe that they are trying to mislead the public. Teapot is an affectionate term used by owners of the over 7 pound yorkie, again, I'm not upset by an owner using this word, but if a breeder used this label, I would assume that they didn't know what they were doing. Of course, I never hear breeder using this term to describe their puppies. |
thanks for clearing this up. all my pups are under 7 lbs but most of the foster pups i've had have been between 7 & 15 lbs. no matter what the size, i loved them all (i just can't carry them around as much). my foster pup, Ted E. Bear, has a pending adoption. he is 12 lbs and is the sweetest guy. he has been with me for 6 weeks and it is going to be very hard to say goodbye. my husband really wants to keep him but that would make 5 and then there would be no more room to foster. we should know by thursday if the home visit checks out. i'm already tearing up. heidi |

Awe, bless your heart for being a foster mommy, I'll bet this is so hard for you. I agree that dogs are loveable in many sizes, but it does seem that many who have to be rehomed are over standard. This is why I encourage everyone to purchase their pups from ethical breeders. Ethical breeders only breed within the standard range, and while sometimes they produce an abnormally small or large puppy, they will do their best to find a good home for that puppy. |
