Generally is 8 months old and we are considering a play mate for him. Would a 3 month old be to young of a puppy to get or should I get one older. He is about 7 pounds now and VERY active and playful. He wears out the neighbors poodle! What I am afraid of is getting one that is to young to keep up. I am going to call my breeder and see if she has one that has not been picked up yet. Any ideas or tips? I was not going to get a second one, but my husband seems to think it will help Generally especially while we are both at work. I work part time, but three days a week we are gone 10 + hours.:aimeeyork:animal36

i introduce my 10 month to a 3 month old and when he was 11 months i introduce him to another 3 month old...and they get a lot great...but i wouldn't say that with me introducing the now 1 years and 5 and 4 month old to the 3 and 4 year old female....my 8 year old maltese is too laid back so he gets along with everyone...hehe..i say go for it...hehe

I think you should get another one =D I don't think 3 months old is too young. Maybe you should bring him along to the breeders house and see how he does. If you still seemed concerned there are probably some 5 month olds out there available and they would be a lot bigger. You could also rescue.

OoO rescue a yorkie would be good tooo..i found this too...they are so cute

I think those ages would be fine together. My 1 year old and 3 month old (5 months now) have been great pals. Lola just jumps up on the bed or sofa when she wants a break from the constant play.

My boy is 8 months and I'm toying with the idea, too.

pebbles just turned 6 months and I am getting a 3 month old lil boy in the middle of july.. so she will be 7 months then. I think they will do fine considering pebbles little size! I wanted to get another one while she was still a puppy :)

I just got a 3 month old to play with my 1-year old, and if I were you, I definitely would NOT be worried about the 3 month old not being able to keep up! So far, it's the opposite for me, my 1-year-old can't keep up with the new puppy! Good luck, and I agree that it is great to give your puppy a playmate!

My plan was to take him anyways as he has not seen his mom and dad since we got him and they are only 2 hours or so away. Gas prices have pretty much kept us from seeing them, however, I really do want to go. I think she has one that was born in May, however I think that will be to young for him. He met a 8 week old at PetsMart and the puppy was still very much into the sleep stage and not active at that time. I was also concerned that he might hurt it as they were considerable different in size.:aimeeyork

well a puppy should not leave its mother and litermate until 10-12 weeks...i find that 8 month puppies still has that sleep stage to go thru...hehe...but i don't see a probably with a 3 month old because that is the age i got MeiLing and Kioko and Yoshi was 10-11 months at the time I bought them home...and they are the best of pals...all 3 of them...although sometimes Yoshi just wants to chilled since he is now 13 months old...but he still have his playful moments...hehe

Lily is a year and we just got Kingston who is about 10 weeks and they are now the best of friends.

I think you'd be fine with a 8 month old and a 3 month old... just make sure you supervise them together for the first couple weeks at all times.
