Upset And Angry.... :mad:Hello everyone! I have a question. The other day, I was in Petsmart w/my Mickey talking with a couple of other ladies that were in there with their Yorkies and this woman came up to us with her dog (I can't remember what breed), but she began to tell me how cute Mickey (he's four (4) months old) was and before I knew it, she game him a treat that she had with her for her dog. I asked her what that was and she said that it was treats for "CATS"!!! She said the dogs love cat treats. It took everything in my not to smack that woman. I hear that this is not good for dogs. It amazed me how someone would come up to a stranger and give their dogs anything to eat with the permission of the owner. Can someone tell me if this is true about the cat treats and whether or not it could have mad him sick? |
Why?????? Don't they get it??? I would never in a million, dream of doing that. Cats treats are for cats...that's why we have dog treats. Even if it was a dog treat...what if there's am allergy issue, what if your dog was scheduled for surgery and was NPO...WHAT IF !!!!! WOW I'm mad for you!!! |
I think that cat food (and probably treats) are too rich for dogs. But that shouldn't matter because she had absolutely NO right to do that! It's bad enough when people just feel that they can pick up your dog or start petting him before asking but to give him something to eat?!!! I would have been furious!:thumbdown:thumbdown |
I don't blame you for being mad, and I would probably not have been able to stop myself from slaping her! I don't think one treat will hurt Mickey. Cat treats/food are very high in protien, too high for dogs, especially little dogs. Tucker used to eat our cat's food all of the time until my vet told me his blood work was looking questionable. Once we put the cat food in the basement he was fine. But I still would want to ring that woman's neck...what could she have been thinking? What if Mickey had allergies or something? Wht an idiot! |
Wow that was way out of line  People seem to feel like they can take liberties with our babies that they would never take with other dogs. I don't get it  (ie: picking them up, giving them treats, rushing towards them screeching HOW CUTE!!, scaring the daylights out of them..) |
Some people... |
A seriously doubt that one cat treat is going to do any damage to your little one, unless there are allergies involved. But that is beside the point--she had no right to feed your dog ANYTHING like that w/out asking you first! I admire your self control because I would have lost it on her right then and there!:thumbdown Not cool! |
Thanks for all of your input...I just do not understand the nerve of some folks! |

Okay.. I will stop ranting..lol |
I just find too many people so bold.. :eek:for any better word.. and that is why I use a stroller.. people allow there kids to just whip over and get there hands all over a puppy or small dog.. with out even asking if it is ok.. now treats..:thumbdown what if it were some nut case with something in the treat.. like who would have ever thought that children on halloween would have to have their parents go through their goodie bag.. stranges people out there...anne |
People make me so mad that feed our dogs something without asking first. My Neighbor gave chachi a cooked bone once without asking and I was fuming |
It was really out of line for her to feed your dog anything let alone a cat treat. People are so dumb sometimes. I have my dogs trained not to eat food from anyone but my family. To train I had a neighbor give them a piece of cheese with hot sauce in the middle. After this happens a few times they learn not to eat food or anything from strangers. I also put hamburger in my yard with a hot pepper in it. They won't eat anything off the ground outside either. I reinforce this periodically. |
What nerve! My Lady is a diabetic and I would have had a fit if anyone fed her a treat without asking my permission. Even my friends and family know to ask before giving her anything. I doubt anyone would dream of walking up to someone's human child and giving them a treat, so why would they think it was okay to do with a furbaby? Some people are real idiots! |
what in the world....the nerve that lady had... |
one cat treat won't hurt your Yorkie. I understand why you are upset, but I am sure she was just trying to be friendly, and she is just unaware of the consequences of her actions. Chalk it up as a learning experience. |
