Biting the new puppy's legs?? Kimchee came home yesterday, and I am already exhausted! I'm so afraid that Linus will change now that he is not any only child ;( At any rate, I have no idea how they are getting along so far! They kind of ignore each other, but when they do interact, Linus bites Kimchee's legs? Does anyone know if biting the legs is playful or mean? |
Gracie (4 mo old) and Boo (5 yrs) bite and chomp on each others legs all the time. Mainly, I think, because that's the easiest area for Gracie to reach. :D Boo, the good boy that he is, never bites hard. Gracie, on the other hand, can go quite "Cujo" on Boo and you'd think she was ripping apart some prey that she has brought down. But unless one of them is acting terrified or truly biting too hard, I wouldn't worry about it. I've raised horses and young colts will do the exact same thing. Biting and nipping at each others legs. |
Thanks! I'm so relieved to hear that this happens, I didn't know what to think of it. There is no crying, so they do seem like they're playing :) |
All of my pups do that too. All 3 get along great, but when they're playing they bite/nip each other...the smallest one always goes for the legs. When you're trying to get them used to each other, I was told the best thing to do is make sure your first yorkie knows that they are most important-always speak to them first and feed them first. Of course the way my dogs are you really speak/pet them alllllll at the same time! |
welcome home kimchee! funny how kimchee is my favourite korean side dish can't have korean meal without it :P anyways, thats strange that linus bites kimchee's legs is it possible that linus might feel the new sibling syndrome? you know... when you're used to being the center of attention and then when a new baby comes home boom! all the attention is at the new baby... i've never experienced this in person because i'm an only child but this happens all the time. perhaps it happens with dogs as well. |

Thanks for the replies! Yes, Kimchee is my favorite Korean pickled cabbag, and I actually copied the name from a fellow YTer! Sadly for Kimchee, I've been practically ignoring him so that Linus doesn't get jealous! I'm just dying to snuggle with Kimchee all day long, but I did hear it's important to show the older dog more attention, so Linus is getting my undivided attention! Hopefully once the transition period is over I can freely shower Kimchee with love without Linus giving me the evil eye! |
