Grooming area: What is your setup? Where did you get it all? I want to set up a permanent area of my home to do grooming. I often have 4 little fur balls to groom (3 maltese and 1 yorkie) and I need a place other than a table I have set up in my kitchen (my husband is tired of eating hair) or doing it on the picnic table outside. I would like a grooming table with the holder to keep them still (what is this called?), hands free dryer, clippers (what brand?) and whatever else someone can suggest to make grooming more convenient. I have looked on ebay at stuff, they either have the outrageously priced or the cheapy stuff. I'm looking for good and affordable. So please brag about what you have or what you want & where you got it . |
you can get a grooming table with an arm that holds them up. There's a blow dryer that stands on its own as well. I think its call the duck. You can find all kinds of things for grooming at www.petedge.com I think they have some of the best prices and you'll find so much stuff to buy. ;) Mine have their own room for grooming and supplies and all their junk. LOL |
grooming I have a grooming table with an arm that I ordered from Dr.s Foster and Smith. They have a web site. Just put their names in "search". It should come up. I cut my dogs in the laundry room (tile floor). I can't keep it up all the time though because of space. I just set it up when I need it. It's big enough to hold your instruments on the corner, too. :) |
Thanks! I hadn't looked at those sites before. They both have this table. Does anybody have this? I like how it let's you move the dog around. http://www.petedge.com/shopping/prod...ProductID=2286 |
Hey! I think I can make one of those! |
i just want to bump this back up, I am wondering if anyone has the above listed table? Is it a good table? |

I bought it all from Petedge. I highly reccomend them. They have the best pricing my opinion. Dont forget to buy some clipper lube too. Cool lube is the best because it cools the blade also so no burning of the skin. Use it often to preserve your blades |
http://www.petedge.com/shopping/prod...iProductID=630 This is a really good book. I dont know if you are interested in any books but it is good. Best on that I have found so far. I also bought a really nice mens nose hair trimmer clipper set and a beard trimmer so get the small places. I found that the small ones made for doing dogs really aren't worth the money that people spend on them cause they wear out really quick. |
Well, we made our own grooming table. We got a portable chest that has four drawers in it and wheels and then attached a piece of plywood to the top of it and I covered it with some carpet. The drawers hold everything, it is portable, and I can put it in the closet when we don't use it. CHEAP! |
grooming As a retired groomer you know I have tried everything...I haven't set up my grooming table since I moved..I bought a $20 3 tiered plastic shelf at Walmart, put a rubber mat on top and use the shelves for grooming supplies...works for me. I bought two and use the second next to the first and sit the Duck dryer on it. I do have a small folding professional table you can take to shows that is nice also..and a regular large table..but so far I use the shelf. Walmart also had a small folding $20 table (18x26 and adjustable in height) you can sit at like the $100 professional table..all it needs is a rubber mat glued on it..I bought one of those also. |
I haven't tried the small turning type table. I just have the regular one. I am going to get some of that peg board for a wall area too. It will be nice to have things right there hanging up. Right now my stuff is in drawers. I'm going to have to look for Wal-Marts adjustable table, I haven't seen it. I found those rubber mats you use in cabinets works great for non-slip surfaces. |
I love the ideas you guys are giving me for using drawers and such. Thanks so much! Yorkierose: What is a duck dryer? Reconsmomma: Would you recommend those same clippers for maltese too? |
grooming DUCK...It is a small, free standing table size dryer..in all the catologs. CC mentioned it in her post also. The Walmart table comes in bright colors..I got lime green and glued a rubber bath mat on it. |
