How often to trim nails? How often we should trim their nails? I always wait till I take Chloe in for grooming (6 to 8 weeks) and have her nails trim at the same time. But I do notice her nails are getting long? Thanks!!! |
that's a good question. I have Ozzy's daycare trim his every 3 weeks..but maybe they should be done more often??? |
Long nails Aidens are really bad. He isn't ready for a grooming yet..or maybe I'm not ready!!! I need to have his nails done badly. He has a vet apt Thurs,so I called and they're gonna cut them. I am so afraid to do so. When I first got Pongo(now 14) I went too deep and he bled, and my little skin babes at the time thought I was so meanest mommy ever, that I never cut them again. My girlfriend at work told me about a new nail trimmer. It files them in one quick sweep? Anyone hear of it? I'll have to google it!!! LOL:D |
I bathe and groom mine every other weekend and trim the nails then. If you trim them often, it keeps the quick from growing so far out into the nail. |
I usually get Odie's nails cut when I hear him *clicking* on the hardwood floors. That is about 2 to 3 weeks. I take him to my groomer and she'll cut them while I am holding him. She is really good with him and he likes her so that works very well for all involved..lol :D |
I think it varies, depending on how much you walk them as the concrete "files" them. I thought 6-8 weeks was sufficient. When I take Joey to Petsmart, I ask the groomers if they think he needs it, and sometimes they tell me no and that I should come back in a couple of weeks. If you are home clipping, I don't think doing it more often would be bad, as long as you are just taking off tiny bits. I'm so afraid of hitting the quick. |
