Raw rabbit meat? I have read the posts about Yorkies stalking and killing rabbits and I have accepted that my sweet little boy has a "killer" instinct after catching him w/ a half-eaten baby bunny in his mouth. There is group of rabbits that live under our shed so I will be keeping a very close eye on him from now on but he was vomiting a little bit yesterday after he ate half of the bunny. Can he get seriously sick from eating rabbits (i.e., parasites, worms, etc.)? Thanks. |
Rabbits are known to be carriers of tularemia and yes, your dog could get it from eating rabbits. I would watch him and if there is anymore vomiting, get him to a vet, ASAP. |
I hope your baby's ok, one good thing, you probably won't have to worry about him killing any more rabbits, if that concerned you. When animals get sick after given a "new" food they avoid that food in the future. If the food isn't new, and the animal has eaten it several times with no illness, this effect is less likely to be seen. |
