Excessive Panting
 
I need help! Right now my Roxy is excessively panting. She has plenty of fresh water and she just won't drink it. I even changed it a couple of times to see if she would and she just takes a few licks and that's it.

I need some advice or something. Is panting normal???

She curled up sleeping right now and her breathing is still fast. Should I be concerned? :confused:

Well Maddie does that SOOOOO much my other yorkie Bailey can run around the yard 10 times and be good to go but Maddie can do like 1 round and she has panting out of this world LOL or when she gets excited she is panting away to the point were one time I thought she had peed in her crate but it was salava and her chin hairs be all wet.....Now Maddie short and chunky but the vet says she is healthy so I guess its normal......

How old is your baby and how much does she weigh??

I think I woudl be calling a vet....Could she have gotten over heated?

She'll be 5 months on the 19th. On her 4 month checkup she was 4 lbs. The doc says shes "normal" size...whatever that means to them...

My vet is closed today...I'll have to wait until tomorrow. I'm watching her and see seems fine just panting. So, are you saying panting is not normal??? :confused:

Ok well if the vet says that her weight is fine for her size then she is not overweight because that can cause excessive panting also....

No trying to answer for the OP but I do think panting is normal but not 24/7 if you know what I mean...Like if I play with Maddie or if I run from one wall to the other she is panting...or when I go to take her out she is all panting in her cage all excited to get out......

Was your baby panting after playing?

Well about 2 weeks ago she was weighted at the vet and she was 5lbs 4oz and she will be 3 years old July 10th but every dog is different so don't think just because your dog is 4 months and weights 4lbs something is wrong because your dogs parents was bigger than my dogs parents if you get my drift.....:)

if you have the heat outside that we do now.. panting is NORMAL... lol.. it's a steam bath outside! Do you have a straw or an eye dropper that you can get some water in her just so you know you she has some. Are her gums/tongue extremely red? this is a sign of heat stroke. Was she playing earlier? can you get her to eat a treat?

LOL. Thanks! She hardly if ever pants so I was worried. But, I just checked her gums and tongue, they are pink. She's playing right now. Running up and down with her toys and she is panting. I have a small cup she likes to drink from. I'll see if she wants some water. OH and I just gave her a treat. She ate it with no problem.

sounds very normal to me. As long as her gums are pink and she'll eat a treat.. you know she is ok :)

sounds normal. Panting is how they cool themselves.
